Wilf getting abuse on social media it time the players organised a boycott.

No surprise. The guy has a mind of his own and people don't like that. They would rather be sheep.

Wilf is a great role model for Black kids. He has made something of himself despite being an immigrant. That is far more powerful than taking the knee.

He is rich and famous, and he made that happen with talent and dedication.

The abuse Wilf highlighted today relates to mindless racist comments. Why are you solely conflating receiving this abuse with him refusing to take the knee? Personally I agree with his stance on that, but you appear to be using comments aimed at him such as 'go die black monkey' and liberal use of the n word and blaming those actually taking a stance against racism, rather than starkly engaging in it.

I certainly wouldn't argue that he's a role model, but that doesn't hinge on whether he agrees with taking the knee or not, as there are plenty of successful black players and indeed people who fall on either side of that. You are hijacking and using this grotesque racist abuse for your own ends.

I'm with Wilf 100% on social media needing to take these issues far more seriously. That will bring a much needed reality check to those who target him and others by using vile language to denigrate in a bid to distract themselves from their own nomark status.

Really?

Seems to me that you want to take a perfectly reasonable post and demonise the poster because of your personal dislike.

Kind of funny really seeing that you appear to desire to give further power to social media companies.....Yeah.....I don't see that being abused at all.

They have to argue with something, don't they. I don't even bother to respond now.

Wilf not taking the knee is probably hard for people with low IQs to cope with.
He gets race related abuse from a handful of people, probably Man City fans from abroad, and that allows the usual suspects to claim that racism is a big problem and that we need stronger action
It actually demonstrates how useless taking the knee is and always will be, and that no action will ever stop a few idiots calling people names.

He has been coerced into taking the knee and has been given no choice if he wants to play.

So much for individual decisions. The nature of taking the knee becomes clear. It is a command handed down from the elites to all White people.

Obey or be ruined.

Just going to mention Marcos Alonso again - did 'the elites' decide he's an exception amongst white people, or is your summary just a dramatized nonsense?

It's simple courtesy and respect when visiting a host country that you abide by their cultural standards and laws/regulations. The Hungarians involved last night at Wembley should be arrested and charged for violent conduct looking at the video clips and banned from attending any match the UK ever again. Why don't you simply own up and say you support their actions rather make a failed attempt of using words to hide behind that view?

LOL. OK, see you at the WC in Qatar for a spot of (teetotal) gay-imprisonment.

How many players going to be kneeling and clutching their rainbow laces on the pitch, whilst hypocritically turning a blind eye to the regime of their hosts?

Gutted James Maclean isn’t still playing in the Prem. Would love to see those saying people can’t choose not to take a knee (they can) vilify him for choosing not to wear a poppy on his shirt.

His point stands though really. You don't go to the Qatar World Cup and act like their laws don't exist, no matter how abhorrent or ridiculous they may be. Or if you do you accept the consequence of ignoring them.

I'd fully support players not taking part based on their horrendous human rights record, and essentially use of slave labour in getting the World Cup infrastructure in place. Their actions are typically decided by what they think will impact their profile, sponsorship and pay packet though and so whatever decision is best for that will likely be the decider.

You're all about the 'theys' and easy, lazy categorisations. Leave the house and interact with people at some point in time. You might learn something.

So I noticed something recently. Of course all of the Premier League players take the knee before starting a game, but then when they go to play with their respective international teams during the break they're part of a team that make a point of not taking the knee before starting a game. Even against us. I find it quite confusing.

It certainly wasn't my view until recently, no. Let's just say that my concern for what echo chambers (often stirred up by foreign actors) do to people over time, makes me more inclined to put a few more checkpoints in place.

It’s a little like musicians who played Sun City; some did it for the money, some under sufferance due to financial need and some probably didn’t give it a second thought. And of course a lot more didn’t go.
