Yes and the figure of 16 billions is wrong. It is 9.4 billions after the rebate and 5.2 billions the EU paid to us. Ah yes, the rebate....which the left continually and continually attacked Thatcher over. Now amusingly they use at their convenience.

The UK’s Brexit “divorce bill” is €47.5bn (£40.8bn) according to estimates from Brussels that are higher than the government’s forecasts. The first tranche, €6.8bn, is due for payment by the end of the year. The final bill, buried in the European Union’s consolidated annual accounts for 2020, is significantly higher than an earlier estimate from the UK’s fiscal watchdog. Brexit, the gift that keeps on giving. To Brussels that is, 'Go whistle' indeed......
If we actually owe them that money then so be it we should honour our bills SNP take note.

How? Either we agreed a figure or we did not. This sort of crap does serious damage to our international reputation if we are seen as welchers.

Frost trying to say the EU deal is 'not definitive', the one he negotiated. Only 6% of NI people trust the UK government, and even less, 3% trust Johnson.

Doesn’t matter though does it, it’s done and it won’t be reversed in your lifetime so move on. You’re like a bloke whose girlfriend has left him but instead of moving on with his life he just goes on about how unfair life is. All this time whilst she’s being f@cked by some other fella. Grow a pair and move on man. Edited by Tom-the-eagle (09 Jul 2021 6.50pm)

The government also pointed out that the bill does not include the UK rebate which presumably will be pro rata. As I previously said if the bill is genuine we must pay it. I made my SNP comment as they think they can leave and not pay their share. You are correct welching on a deal will only cause problems with the money markets.

Whilst I do not disagree re the government, it does show how utterly inept the opposition are then if they can’t overturn that lot.

Devil is in the detail. The EU wants to protect itself from cheap imports being white labelled in the UK a perfectly reasonable position. How they achieve that goal is probably not in the treaty. As I have said before if the EU wanted to play nice it could offer a preferred trader scheme to the major companies so instead of inspecting every single shipment the trader promises to obey EU rules with stiff fines if they don't. The likes of M&S are not going to risk being caught.

Frost, who negotiated this disaster, is in a corner after being taken to task by the NI assembly. His response? It's Theresa May's fault.
