You cannot conflate Russia with QAnon.

You are smart enough to know that very, very well on your own.

Russia DID interfere heavily in the 2016 election to elect Trump. As the seditionists ransacked the capitol building, Putin was smiling to himself thinking "wow this worked better than we ever thought possible".

The Trump campaign had multiple links with, connections to, and meetings with Russian operatives.

Manafort shared confidential campaign data with the Russians. Roger Stone was up to his eyeballs in this scheme.

Trump Jr and Manafort, and others, had a meeting with a few dodgy Russians peddling dirt on Hillary.

Trump then openly obstructed justice and tampered with witnesses, via twitter.

Trump was NOT exonerated by the report, as Mueller said very plainly. He simply was not implicated as sitting presidents cannot be indicted with crimes.

Many, many criminal cases and convictions stemmed from the Mueller report - many of which now pardoned by the corrupt head of the serpent.

On the other hand, QAnon is an insane cult movement who believe the world is run by a ring of satanic paedo blood drinking democrats, and that Trump alone can fight and end this cabal.

Stirley, you are something of a fanatic, but please tell me you are coherent enough to see the quite large differences between the Russia situation, and what QAnon believers believe?

The F.B.I. have a different take on it to you, Maine Eagle.

I'm a long time lurker, I get stink eye from the wife if I spend too much time arguing with the wind on the internet.

Two things can be true: Trumps post election defeat antics can be absurd and wrong. They should be called out as such. It is also true and important to have a credible media who isn't clearly in the tank for one political party as they've been for the last 50 years. Its not just the media, its a whole swath of institutions in this country that have been swamped by overly credentialed progressives who cannot relate to the kitchen table issues that everyday Americans are actually concerned about.

I just sat through an entire summer of leftwing rioters burning American cities to the tune of 3 billion dollars of damage and 25+ associated deaths. The mainstream media made excuse after excuse protecting these troglodytes. The Qanons storming the capital was wrong and they should be persecuted to the full extent of the law. A mob is a mob - right or left, this is not complicated nor does it need to be apologized for by authoritative entities such as the mainstream media, governments and corporations. People who sat around posting little black boxes on Instagram or hash-tagging BLM and doing all the associated nauseating finger wagging should look in the mirror and see how ridiculous and hypocritical they sound when its the other side doing the violence. A violent mob is a violent mob and should receive no quarter from any authoritative institution.

If Trump supporters had done what BLM had done in the summer the media would have called for them to be carpet bombed in a scene similar to the "Highway of Death" in the Gulf War.

I understand the "stink eye"! I get plenty too, although my wife and I are in general agreement politically even if she doesn't get as involved as me. Only this evening she called those who voted for Brexit "idiots".

You are, of course, quite correct that any mob action is unacceptable and should be fully prosecuted. Those who involve themselves in such things are neither right nor left activists. They are criminals.

There was though no general condemnation of Trump supporters following the events at the capital. They weren't all Qanon. The condemnation was, rightly, directed at criminal activity which sought to undermine democracy, even if it was thought by those involved to be supported by Trump. By way of contrast, Trump and his surrounding bunch condemned the "left" BLM and Antifa as a whole for the trouble last summer following the anger generated by the death of George Floyd. You do much the same in your comment. The truth though is that as many of those protesting did so peacefully it's as wrong to taint them by association as it would be to taint all Trump supporters because of the capital riot. We need to use the right names for things. In this case, criminals.

I disagree with you about the media. Your favourite "news" station is Fox and although they have distanced themselves from Trump in recent months for the vast majority of his Presidency and his campaign they and Trump were joined at the hip. you could hardly describe Fox as left could you and there is plenty of other right-wing media available with easy access.

I also don't think broadcasters like CNN are overtly Democrat either. That they have called out Trump is undoubtedly true but I feel certain they would have done so had he been a Democrat. It was his behaviour and not his party which got the attention. CNN are for me, just like the BBC is here, doing the job a public broadcaster is expected to do. Objective fearless analysis untouched by political or commercial pressure. That some don't like the result is just par for the course.

That those who manage our institutions and politics don't always understand those "kitchen-table" issues is probably true but also, whilst frustrating to some, ultimately unimportant. they need to be considering more weighty issues on our behalf if indeed we are to progress. What you argue for is populism and that experiment has failed.

The assessment of the Mueller report, completely and utterly endorsed by Chris Wray, head of the FBI, is that Russia was attempting to get Trump elected.

Just getting over my dissapointment of losing Melania,
and Trump to, CNN has become so boring now, just some old boy with first stage dementia put in charge of the nuclear button, and scouring the country for any black person he can give a job to.

Bet the white farmers are worried to, Biden is likely to do a Mugabe and put blacks in charge, can see McDonalds and KFC being white jobs soon.....

“Idiots”, eh? Well it’s only been four and a half years so a bit soon for the healing to begin. Still, full steam ahead, let’s all pull together and don’t look back in anger.

I voted for Brexit along with the majority did I not?

I would challenge you to find any opinions I have expressed that are anything more than commonly held views among middle aged White men.

You have known me as a person on the internet for five minutes. You know almost nothing about me.
That said, I have known you for the same time and have concluded straight away that you are either delusional or a very bored troll.

That slightly more people were silly enough to be fooled by the Brexiters propaganda than were not doesn't make you a moderate. You would still vote for Brexit today and every day, even if it forced the country onto its knees. Moderates don't do that. Moderates can change their minds when faced with new information as many have with Brexit.

Strange to say that middle-aged "white" men are neither a majority in the UK nor one homogeneous group. Yours are commonly held views among a certain section of middle-aged "white" men. Mostly the type who used to support UKIP.

I have "known" you here for several years but I won't give you the opinion I came to early on which has never, so far anyway, been proved wrong, as it isn't very polite and you have quite a thin skin.

Many US presidents gave out dodgy pardons in their waning days, like everything though, Trump took it to a whole new level of depravity...because he could.

'Because he could' is the key lesson of the Trump era.

So few of the norms and customs that every single president abided by before him, are enshrined in the US constitution, or law.

Trump pardoned people to give meat and drink to his base. He did everything, EVERYTHING, to give meat and drink to his base. He gave Rush Limbaugh a Presidential Medal of Freedom, simply and solely for the reason of exciting his base.

No president of these 'United' States before him, has ever been so craven in pandering to one section of society.

Speaking of breaking codes, norms and standards, even at the last minute, there was speculation that Mike Pence would not certify the electoral slates....because, some claimed, he could do that. In the end Pence listened to more learned people than appear on Fox news, and did the right, and lawful thing.

Consider this: Barack Obama and his family were issued death threats over the birther lie, despite this, he STILL welcomed Trump with open arms to the white house, managed the transition properly, and acted in the best interests of this nation. What does Trump do? Asks republicans in GA to "find votes" then incites a violent uprising, causing 5 deaths, and never mention Joe Biden by name.

Trump cannot act in the interests of anyone, except himself or his immediate family on some occasions. He is a depraved human, with practically zero integrity, leadership skills, or acumen for anything that he does. Call Obama what you like, but he has class.

It is a miracle that will be marveled at for centuries, that such a lowlife piece of trash as Donald J Trump became the president of America. But if you read about what Fujimori did, what Duterte did, what Vitor Orban did, and many more, it becomes clear. He duped a bunch of idiots into thinking he was a solution to a system that had generationally failed them. The parallels to Brexit are clear.

In other news, it is nice to see White House press briefings back, on a daily basis, and not being run by a pathological liar.

You are not required to run daily press briefings, is it not mandated by law. It is simply something that a normal administration considers an essential element of governing a large nation - open communication and some level of transparency.

All true and has not only been true both before and during his Presidency but has been steadfastly pointed out by both of us, and a small handful of others, throughout in these pages. Despite loud denials and attempts to defend the indefensible.

Trump though has managed one notable achievement. He has turned G.W. Bush into a statesman.

By the way I have a little experience of Duterte and more respect for him than Trump. He is wildly popular and pursues policies which in other countries would not be legal. He is though a pragmatist in a totally corrupt system which he is really making significant changes to. He really is "draining the swamp". The principal difference between him and Trump is he is modest and genuinely close to the people. What he does is for them and not for himself and his cronies. He sacked the Chief Justice for corruption and jailed policeman for it too. He has also broken the power of the Catholic Church which has opposed contraception and resulted in large families and much poverty. So an unconventional man who could never succeed in a western democracy but was needed there.

For some reason 'Errol' was an incredibly popular name for black lads back then.

That's much more interesting than your usual stuff.

So in the spirit of a new dawn in the USA here's my "uninteresting facts" about my secondary school.

I was at school with Jeff Beck and played with him in a band. Roy Budd, the film score composer was there at the same time. As the school didn't even have a music room that was very odd.

Alex Stepney and Edward Woodward also went there.

I have read the Mueller report, front to back.

It is not a "nothing burger".

It still may rear its head, as Trump could face obstruction of justice charges, which Mueller indicated were only not brought, due to an inability to indict a sitting president.

Probably being unsealed in NY as I write this!

Mueller handed on many of his files to NY when it became apparent Barr was going to stop him indicting Trump.
