I wonder who leaked that to The Mail on Sunday. Given that Government figures have most coming from Iran, Iraq, Sudan and Syria. And the majority then being granted asylum, so not economic migrants. A report nearly a year old! Edited by Spiderman (10 Aug 2022 7.17am) Edited by Spiderman (10 Aug 2022 7.19am)

Or are they claiming to be from those countries? Oh FFS. That is truly clutching at straws. Even you can tell the difference between an Albanian and an Iranian. These are the 2021 figures You will note that Albania doesn't feature at all. As far as I can see, many or most Albanians aren't asylum seekers but are illegals. In July 2021, Priti Patel signed an agreement with the Albanian Government which would make it easier for the UK to return criminals and unsuccessful asylum seekers back to Albania. Between April 2015 and April 2019, 6,200 Albanian nationals were deported from the UK to Albania. This was the highest number of any nationality over this period. Many of these deportees are reported to be from the counties of Shkodėr, Kukės and Dibėr, from where British-based drugs gangs recruit.

In the early 2000s thousands of Albanians claimed to be Kosovan, as they were being granted due to situation there. Edited by Spiderman (11 Aug 2022 5.54pm)

Its not always easy to get at the truth..... the story below seems to be this : - 135 Women & Children from Ukraine housed at Killarney, Co Kerry - told they are being evicted ( to Co Mayo) to make way for 200 men 'asylum seekers' from other countries, including Syria, Georgia, Albania, and seemingly other places. Public Outcry, & anguish as the kids have 'put down roots in the town', got to know local kids etc. A Government U-turn. - Women & children can stay in the Town ? Is this a correct analysis ?

Interesting that the BBC story concentrates on missing migrant children. BBC News has discovered that 116 children disappeared between July 2021 and August 2022, after temporarily being put in hotels by the Home Office." (BBC website) This is really a pop at reporting, which is lax. There are missing people from hotels, but they are only classified as children based on say-so, and all arrive without documentation. Even The Sun was doing better than this, some time ago.

Many that claim to be minors, are indeed not so. HO have procedures in place to obtain age assessment but these are very rarely used. If claimed minors arrive they become the responsibility of the Social Services, with regard to accommodation. I know of several placed with local foster families, who abscond on the first night. Worse case scenario was putting a claimed minor with a foster family with teenage daughters. Luckily no harm was done. IMO many of these will no be minors and would be very surprised if an 11yo would have been put into a hotel without a responsible adult accompanying. Some might be exploited, which is horrendous, however you can argue that they have been exploited since leaving their home country

Albanian barbers and candy shop sales people.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
