Played 7. Lost 7. In the lock out of fans period. Not one word I’ve read has mentioned our fans. Could it be we have helped the team over the line in a number of games? Because we haven’t had many clear victories. It’s the only big change in this shocking period. If we are not allowed back I think we will continue to struggle. Or we need a major overhaul which on the current watch is probably very unlikely. I am very worried for the future as I just can’t see unrestricted fans being allowed back anytime soon. Things are looking so bleak and I am not a tv fan.

I've backed Hodgson all the way while acknowledging that the football has been dull and unenjoyable to watch. And now we are back to going over the same old points again ; 1. No backing in the transfer market - are you going to dispute that ? 2. Doesn't give youth a chance. Well he did tonight and it wasn't exactly AWB all over again was it ? ( saying that I think Mitchell is decent and he was up against a very good opponent and playing in a team that's had it's confidence shot to pieces ). But we do not have a group of capable youngsters being denied a chance. 3. His objective - given by his boss - is keep the club in the Premier League - has he or has he not achieved that ? This club has been run on a short term basis more or less since promotion in 2013. It continues to do that by offering Roy another 12 month deal. The reason I stick up for Hodgson is that he has not been able to view the job as a ' project ' which is the management buzzword in football. It's all about the next season and not beyond that. I said a few weeks ago that it's difficult to make a case for any manager that loses 8 games in a row, which looks likely. And I stand by that - I could understand Parish reaching an agreement that allows Roy his dignity to depart gracefully. But the author of this mess is Parish. And I say that reluctantly because I know how much the club means to him. Good post. Parish and those that think he can do no wrong, should take a long hard look at themselves. The only point I have a slight issue with is, the project. Realistically at his age, did Roy see this as a project? I’m not sure but he has fulfilled his employers wishes by keeping us up. SP is a fan surely as such he can see we cannot go on like this.

Hmm. Freedman. What does he actually do and have we seen him at any games? (Tricky now, I get that, but the camera never seems to pick him out). Whilst I’ve never forgotten he walked I do really struggle that someone of Roy’s age and his experience actually needs Freedman - a proven managerial flop - going around buying players for him.

Since our return to the Premiership I can find little evidence that Parish has engaged in any long term successional planning. Short termist survival has obviously been uppermost in Parish's mind, this can be seen by the type of manager he employed, and the the player signings made. Ok. It's actually quite easy to make excuses for Hodgson when he has critics like you. You are neglecting the fact that the problems are further up the field, just 30 goals scored all season. Had Ayew not been the surprise package of the season, it could have been a lot worse. Of course goalscorers and creative midfielders do not come cheap - hence we have what we have got. Unless Parish finds some cash, nothing will change. An overhaul of the squad is required and ideally you would do that over a longer period than 12 months, but of course when it comes to first team matters the club doesn't work like that. Oh and by the way Chelsea have conceded the same number of goals as Palace this season.

Even with said limitations considered, I don’t think Roy has done enough to stay in the job, which you do acknowledge in your post. I will say anyone calling Roy an idiot or not recognising the job he’s done for us is way off the mark - I view the first 2 years of his tenure as successful, and after listening to some of the s***e Warnock, Pardew, Holloway and Pulis threw around in press conferences for years, It’s been refreshing to have an intelligent, respectful manager who conducts himself so well. But I think the time has come to move on.

What does everyone think of getting in the Cowley brothers? Huge step up yes, but they are young, progressive and we might even play football. Plus have championship experience should the worst happen. Rumours are they wanted Huddersfield to follow the Burnley method (which was rejected by their chairman) that's we are at?

Roy may not be the main reason for where we are and what we are doing but he is a part of problem for sure.

When they arrived at Huddersfield, the club were second from bottom and when they left they were 18th out of 24. It would appear that the club and the Cowleys were not on the same wavelength in terms of the way forward and Huddersfield have approached one of Bielsa's assistants as a replacement.

[Link] -- in fairness to him has a point.. he has not had a goalscorer at the club in his entire time here. Begs the question why was Sorloth jettisoned then? I know he was awful but if we are short on bodies why did we not keep him.. surely its Roy and Rays job to improve the players? However I am more than concerned with his comments around he doesnt know what else we could do. How about try something different.. if your tactics and personnel has resulted in 6 straight losses prior to this game.. try something different.. players, tactics, formation.. something. Hes too stubborn for his own good. In my opinion he does some of these things as a display to Parish and co.
