Just seen the incident. We got very lucky.

Isn't VAR, supposed to stop these kind of things from happening?

We won. That is and always will be it for me. Doesn’t matter how, it will set me up until the next game. Well done Roy and the team.

100% agree.
We had so much bad luck this time last year so nice the coin falls our way sometimes. Still, we deserved to win, not that the BBC will say that tonight.

The international break + the points cushion gives the staff more time to try to sort out our relatively poor form.

I think the mistake was for the referee to blow the whistle whilst the attack still played out. I don't think we can blame VAR for this. He should have let the play complete and then ask VAR did he dive?

Anyway I don't care this referee has cost us plenty in the past.

We absolutely got lucky but VAR in this case couldn't even have helped.

The ref blew before the shot was taken, so even if VAR were able to overturn the referees opinion about the 'dive', they still couldn't count the goal as the whistle interfered with play.

As far as the dive/foul, the ref thought it was a dive, I don't think it was but once he's made the call VAR can only overturn it if it's an obvious error. If we discount all our opinions, it wasn't obviously not a dive, so VAR can't really do anything.

Sure, but should he have blown for a dive or at all?

Not that I care that much as these things even out over a season and three points in the bag is very nice.

I have seen the incident on TV live and on replays. Personally I am not sure Grealish was touched at all. The Palace defender's leg was back before Grealish took his swan dive. JG was wingeing and grumpy the whole game. What goes round!

Anyway we won. Three points. Sahko back on the field. Fourth in the league. A bit of luck here and at OT running our way. And about time too. Enjoy it.

Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time!

I disagree. If the ref sees a dive, he has to blow the whistle.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Back from the screen.
Enjoyed the game and I think we largely bossed it as a team.
Thanks Roy, tactics beat Villa and we created plenty of chances. Substitutions disrupted our play rather and led to Villa pressing towards the end.
Shame that Kelly looks to have done his groin.
Fourth ! Nose-bleed time.

We move in the direction of our thoughts.
Just think a little.

I thought they could allow play to continue for a few moments and then check with VAR?

Anyway my point was that once he blew his whistle Palace would argue they stopped playing so even if VAR said it wasn't a dive the goal could not stand.

Gary Lineker taking the least charitable line for Palace as usual.
