The whole move (so far) has simply not improved the atmosphere for whatever reason. Nothing against the HF they seem to be trying their very best (regardless of whether you like their songs, drum, accusations of fighting etc) the section looks really good with all the branding in the concourse and the music before however it all just sounds flat in block C where I sit and you can't see the HF on the tv now either. I'm not sure if the rest of the ground is too reliant on them now, don't like the moving of fans from their seats or it's simply the acoustics in the middle of the stand. It's most probably the defensive set of the team and lack of action in the box that actually is boring people to death. All such a shame really the promotion season and the first few years home and away was special and the HF played a massive part. I hope this section works out and the whole lower Holmesdale becomes loud and proud again maybe were gona need the safe standing on joining of the corners to keep the noise in. 100 percent though just factually as somebody with no agenda either way the HF were louder and more visible in the corner of the stand

So true, they were far more effective down in the corner, where the players used to go to celebrate, and the HF got lots TV exposure.
They have really shot themselves in the foot, but after all the fuss they caused, there's no going back now.

If you look at the new single tier kop they have built at Tottenham, it is fantastic. It has been designed for acoustics and works. Imagine if that was the Homesdale.
Like when we go to Wembley you get 20000+ fans all singing under one roof and we are immense.
The problem at SP is that the Homesdale was not designed well with noise in mind, so you get the Lower tier where the noise is not amplified by the roof.
In the AW the loud singing doesn’t come out so well because of that bloody gantry. The sooner Palace remove it the better.
So at home our singing is spread and muffled. Having said all that, when all the crowd join in like after a goal, the noise is rocking.
Considering all the known limitations we still create a great atmosphere overall and a good spread of noise throughout most games. We are renowned for it.

The problem is how boring the team are on the pitch. Low energy on the pitch is matched by low energy in the stands. We’ve become awful to watch at home and I can’t imagine a single fan looks forward to our games anymore.

Completely agree. Much preferred them in the corner. It used to ignite the AW more as well.

Plus when the opposition used to have corners they could get at their players a bit being next to the pitch.

To everyone that wants a quieter afternoon tomorrow, you may be in luck. The new FIFA game came out today so 95% of the ultras will no doubt be at home in their pants playing that most of this weekend.

Got to agree that the sound is not travelling well and the HF are too far back in the south tier to be visible when watching on TV. Presumably the general imagery will spread organically as more people hopefully join in. But back to the sound: I remember being at Norwich way back in the seventies and they seemed to have a microphone placed in the home stand that would broadcast what the crowd were singing thus encouraging others in the ground to join in.....

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

I sit near them and watched them for a while during the first half (nothing much else was going on!). Tne bloke with the megaphoine and his mate were leading the singing with their backs to the match for the whole time. I just cannot understand why you would pay £25+ to go to a match and not watch it at all.

My main problem with the singing section is that their singing bears no relation to what is happening in the match. If we're struggling then we need the crowd to react and get behind the team. Instead we just get a constant wall of noise regardless of the state of play. Also, yet again our home form is poor - so if this really working?

I don’t remember seeing them before; isn’t it a bit dangerous?

Good atmosphere today, I though.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
