RH is obviously P**sed off but ever professional, a very diplomatic interview but managing to highlight the flaws

Until Wilf says ok I am ok with staying then SP is still waiting for the right offer and needs to know if he needs replacing. Roy is powerless in this situation but it could well be that the cause of our dilemma is Wilf not SP who is only trying to react to the situation Wilf has put him in. . COYP

Maybe but SP has admitted he likes leaving things until the last minute, which, in my opinion, is not helpful to the manager. Being on holiday now? Somewhat bizarre

But he has not learnt anything, do you really get good deals late in the window? I am not sure as clubs/agents can see you are desperate. A manager needs time to work with any new players, trying to bed them in when season has started is dicing with disaster. I feel for Roy over this and one wonders if SP wouldn't mind if Roy "walked"

But think of the money you save on wages. If we end up signing 4 players who are on 50k a week minimum thats nearly £1m we've saved at least than if we had signed them 4 weeks ago.So I can see the reasoning from Parrish but like you say it must also be massively frustrating as a manager because you need them early to bed them in and get them into the swing of things.
Must be bloody hard trying to balance things if your an owner of a club like ours.Teams like Wolves, Everton and obviously the top clubs don't have to worry about that sort of money but I reckon we do.

It’s ironic because some of the money saving has contributed to our money woes and now the money saving is happening to try and aid dealing with our money woes.

This timing of transfers by Parish will never change. Don’t ever fancy us getting a manager that another club(s) is after at the same time. They’ll all know.

I often watch when 2 Prem managers shake hands before battle at the dugouts and because Roy is respected everywhere, you always get more than a few words exchanged. Often you can tell when one manager asks the other about the difficulties he’s under and it looks like Roy gets the same comical questions or remarks he laughs along with.

Totally agree. I don't think Roy will walk he is to professional for that and knows this is his last managerial post, but he is obviously peed off (understandably). As I have previously stated I have always backed SP but I am now losing patience. If we have no money, he should have stated we wouldn't be delving into the transfer market. The sale of AWB must be all to do with lack of funds in the club.
Apparently SP is in the South of France....why? Is he trying to tie up a deal (doubtful), meeting Zaha on his yacht (possible), having a late holiday out of the firing line (possible).
Any bets on Freedman returning as manager next season (cheap option)

You can see clearly Roy is as frustrated as we are over the lack of transfer activity.

season finished what 10 weeks ago yet SP decides to go on holiday 2 weeks before the end of the transfer window when we desperately need to get some deals over the line and new signings on board.

Wilf not due back to the week after next that's the week running up to the first game of the season.

No wonder Roy seems more than a bit agitated.

What the hell is going on - sounds a complete shambles..!!

The problem with that sort of wheeler dealing is twofold. Firstly as anyone who has shopped at a sale will know the best bargains have long gone by the last day of the sale and secondly many clubs will refuse to sell as we haven't left them enough time to find a replacement.

We have already lost out on players in the past due to not leaving the selling club enough time to find a replacement

Replacing AWB and beefing up the other departments that need strengthening isn't dependant on whether Zaha stays or goes

I’m not getting the hump with Parrish just yet because we are known for pulling off some great signings late in the window but you’d think him and Freedman would be at least letting Hodgson know what’s going on if that is the case and it certainly didn’t seem like that from the way Hodgson was talking.

I think the fact that the manager hasn't a clue what's going on is a shocking indictment on the way that the club is run

I can understand from the owners point of view that making late signings is better financially but it’s also quite a risk and worrying from a managers point of view I suppose. If we don’t at least sign 2 full backs and a striker then he’ll deserve all the stick he’ll get and I’d hate to see that because I love him and thinks he’s an amazing chairman.

Parish might be good at pulling off late deals as you say, but he has messed a few up as well, in the mean time a lot of young talented players have gone to other clubs at not exorbitant fee's, players we were supposedly interested in, our even trying to sign, im beginning to think its all a smoke screen and there was never any intention of buying anyone

That still doesn't explain why we have not signed a replacement right back, any club with professional people running it would have done this BEFORE releasing a player of that status.

So Arsenal have just allowed one of their up and coming stars Xavier Amaechi to move to a European side on a 4 year deal for just £2.25m as he wants to play. Just so happens he is a winger with supposedly a massive future. Chance we have missed something there? I can’t believe that when there is a player like this who is obviously available we do nothing about it.

Do people believe Hodgson is in the dark as much as he claims with regard to transfers?
He’s a stubborn chap and will not necessarily play people who he doesn’t rate or who don’t fit his system of play.
As a minimum you would expect Parish and Freedman to run potential signings past him.
However, Hodgson only has one year left on his contract so,perhaps it should be a question for his successor.
That’s assuming there are any signings....
