Warner has made his usual early departure, but Jofra currently serving up low 80's pies which is worrying from an England perspective. Now Jofra gets his chance against Smith. This should be interesting. Edited by Bexley Eagle (04 Sep 2019 11.38am)

All a bit disappointing today. Smith at his annoying best again. I guess it’s difficult to field in the cold and wind and tough to get warm and fired up for bowling. From what I saw the bowling was fairly poor, batsman never looked too troubled. Can’t see how we can win from this position. Forecast is looking wet the next two days. I’d take a draw from here.

The dropped catch was a dolly.

Still plenty of time for two England batting collapses. There certainly is. They showed at Headingley they can bat with discipline when needed. I feel more confident with Denly opening ahead of Roy. Expect Australia to up the tempo now. They'll declare on about 450-480 and give England 10 overs to bat tonight. If England can bat for 90 overs in the first innings, that should be enough to get a draw. We fought back well at Lords and Headingley and will need to do it again. There is no way we can win from here. Very disappointed with Roy this series, no runs and couldn't catch a cold. That chance from Paine was a big moment.

We are indeed off to a good start in that regard, as you have noted! Edited by YT (05 Sep 2019 7.50pm)

I should think that'll be at the point we lose the Ashes.
