Well, we could just ignore our institutions being taken over by useful liberal idiots but I'd rather complain about it.

My point is that the moral high ground can be taken here. Our outrage will change nothing in these overtly racist countries - which is exactly what Montenegro is.
Go there or to any of the surrounding countries and have a pint in the pub.
Talk about black people and you will soon hear the locals' opinions.

I don't care if people are skipping through a meadow together or reeling off slurs, if you want to be part of an international competition, you adhere to basic conventions, understandings and decency.

You may as well be arguing that if fans run onto the pitch and lamp someone it's more acceptable in countries with a higher crime rate because that behaviour is part of the culture. No, you adhere to the rules like the vast majority of other countries somehow manage to do.

Rose must be on at least £50k a week though, and he’s got a fit mrs!

We get it. But an entire national culture of racial prejudice won't just disappear because you ban the football team.

These kinds of platitudes are meaningless.

When you look at how immigration has affected other countries, they are hardly likely to aspire to multi racial enlightenment any time soon.

I don`t think there is anyone who thinks any punishment will be a magical touch to fix the issue but can be a milestone for a long-term solution at least in an international football game. Simply much better than pretending to ignore arrogant people.

People are always taught to respectful to each other from preschool. Despite that, certain types will always indulge in bullying and abuse of others. The nature of that abuse is secondary in the grand scheme.

The media has a bug up its arse about race now because it fits a political agenda but when it comes to expecting foolish, immature and ignorant people to stop existing in our societies, such as they are, it is like commanding the sea to turn back.

1 Well no. I've said nothing about transforming a nation. I've said that if you're in an international tournament and can't abide by rules that are hardly a high bar, there are consequence for that.

2 A bit leftfield, detached from the event in question. We're getting to the nub of your attitude though. Our players are playing football, they're not a pin cushion for your or anyone elses racial hangups. You downgrade our black England players being compared to monkeys as something that's silly rather than racist, and yet are aghast at reaction to this behaviour.

Sanctions will help get this in line, it's tried and tested, and since this isn't a neutral behaviour any efforts to keep their fans on the same as most others involved in international football is fine by be. I'll be happy to see our boys backed up over this racist abuse. I don't want to hear it when I'm watching the game, nor do most viewers and nor do our players.

I don't know why you keep saying all this stuff (I do really)

Show me something that will stop what happened last week in Montenegro and I will support it.

Good luck.

Meanwhile, I have a long list of more important stuff to concern myself with.

You don't need to preen lowest common denominator behaviour. People react to abuse, and just because your own wayward outlook means that monkey chants at black players aren't even racist it doesn't mean that there won't be a reaction to it that seeks to cut this out. Most don't want to see or hear this when they're watching the game.

It's becoming less and less of a problem over time which is why we already know how to solve these problems. In this particular case, sanctions will result in them clamping down on the minority of fans that can't help but make monkey chants. If it's literally hundreds of people and it won't stop, then there is the option to stop taking part until a minimal level of self control is shown.

We don't let people run onto the pitch and lamp people if they're from a more violent culture, so people are more than able to adhere to basic rules of competitions they wish to take part in, and excusing this behaviour encourages it.

Read carefully.

This might be a big deal to you, but in my universe, it is not.
I don't stay awake at night worrying about terrace abuse in foreign countries.

Why do you?

Pulling the 'i have more important things to think about' card might hold more water if you weren't on here every day either colour counting or timing every black face on the TV.

No, it's not a big deal for me. It's straightforward, apply sanctions then move forward. Done. I don't expect you to be offended by how black players are treated. I'm talking about the wider game, not planet hrolf. You said you have other things to do, I'm not stopping you from getting on with them. Or are you planning the usual all day stint on race today too?
