What the hell,we won didn't we. Yes, we scraped home and I'm glad there was an outcome for those who went to Selhurst tonight. However, I bet they're not gagging for a home draw in the next round to see more of the same? ... It was poor!

I do wonder about our fans at times; yes it was Grimsby, but as soon as they went down to 10 men it was always going to be hard to break down a team that is hell bent on sitting deep and closing teh space down...we did it to the best team in teh country not more than 3 weeks ago! Also, as a result i dont think Sorloth played that badly, he brought players into play far more than we've seen recently and actually ran about! I was however dissappointed with Meyer, Wilf (both of whom should've shown far much more nouse and quality given the amount of posession they had) and Suoare! I think for the latter that'll be the last we see of him in a Palace shirt...apart from 2 of the best corners we've put in all season he was ...well WOEFULL. 3 times he let their right winger in behind him in the first 20mins...he was all over the place. Dann was a sight for sore eyes though, again, it was against a team 3divs lower but his passing and threat at set pieces gives us much needed cover in that area..I also thought Reidewald played intelligentlly (esp in the period of 5mins that we were down to 10men as well). We, as a team simply struggle to break teams down...Cardiff was a prime example of that with our full strength 11 and that simply comes down to us slowing the ball down in teh final third when instead thats when a team should in fact pick the pace up (just look at City, arsenal and liverpool when they get in to the final third). So lets get some persepective shall we, we won, thankfully had no injuries and some players on the fringes got some much needed game time. Lyons - how dare you come on here and start speaking sense. You should be ashamed of yourself! Edited by Tom-the-eagle (05 Jan 2019 9.47pm)

It was a brilliant turn out for a game like this by both sets of fans,I saw so many unfamiliar faces in our section, it’s nice to see people who can’t usually get or afford tickets getting to a game and filling the ground out Edited by monkey (05 Jan 2019 9.53pm)

I've got to be honest.....I think Dann would be a better forward than our current crop. I'm just hoping that Benteke's surgery worked and he's the player who first came to us.....instead of that slow reacting one doing an impression of him. Edited by Stirlingsays (05 Jan 2019 10.55pm)

Grimsby had packed the box and crowded Zaha every time he had the ball as they did with Townsend, his game is coming in from the wing and having one two's not doing the stuff he tried today, Townsend had a good game today and is improving I feel all the time, very impressed with him. Zaha and Townsend kept trying to take on players when there was no need and again Zaha needs to stop with the tricks he beats the man and then wants to try beat him again. Townsend was poor today lost the ball many times and wasn't even trying to put balls in the box. I think you are just trolling for reactions so I wont be commenting on anymore of your stupid posts.

Might be really unfair but I get the impression he’s a little arrogant and confused as to why he’s not starting every week. There seemed to be widespread confusion as to why we paid what we paid for him in Scandinavia. Hope he gains confidence, picks up and proves his doubters wrong but he has work to do... From what I read the Norwegian press were astonished by what we paid for him. With Wickham gradually gaining fitness and Benteke expected back soon I would be very surprised to see Sorloth play for us again.

With eleven men Grimsby would have actually come out of their penalty box and provided us some space in it. That could be true actually. Maybe the referee didn’t do us any favours by sending one of their players off so early.

Solid defending players throughout team with very reliable backup especially now with Dann back ..who also likes to come forward and uses his head well especially with crosses, Wickham is back and looks fit for it, Benteke is also very near ..both good with their heads and in the last two games Ayew has finally woken up. We are six points clear of Southampton and we have achieved that without Wickham and Dann all season and Benteke since August. If we do bring someone in then great that would be cool, but if we don't I feel we will be OK. Edited by Tickled pink (05 Jan 2019 11.46pm)
