Small margins , Like others losing to the Scum is very tough to take and believe a lot of discontent now is due to the loss.Im my opinion we have been playing relatively well up to the Brighton game and with any luck would be on 20 points already. Let’s look at the situation after Xmas and then can see weather Roy’s the man to take us forward . Like everyone else believes we do need a striker but can anyone definitely say who on our budget who will guarantee us goals ? .Really think the board are waiting on Benteke or Wickham to produce and f they do will add a couple of decent squad players and try to offload the rubbish. In my opinion the safest option. Cripes ! How long have we all been waiting for them to produce ? If the Board are relying on them then we might as well all throw in the towel now and accept that relegation is a distinct possibility. We will not be lavishing significant sums in January but if we are wholly reliant on Benteke and Wickham to fire in the goals then God help us ! A ridculous situation which ties in with your above statement. Edited by MonsterMunch (06 Dec 2018 9.45am) I know but the way he answered it was as if we should be thankful because Parish pays for everything. He might be rich but he doesn’t pay for anything, actually pays himseyand his companies more than we thought and he’s nowhere near as rich as the other Prem owners.

So that's over £50million on Sakho and Benteke. Think what that could have bought with the right scouting. Exactly.

I’m amazed Hodgson is under fire from anyone. Performances have generally been decent, we just can’t stick it in the onion bag as we have no goal scorers. The Beneteke situation is sad as he used to be such a great striker and his confidence has gone. Sorloth was a poor signing and is woefully off the pace. Ayew looks awful and has a reported attitude problem. If either one of Benteke of Wickham come back firing (doubtful), we’ll shoot up the table. He’s not had much of a budget to work with and outside of the starting 11, there are no game changers we can bring off the bench. He’s doing well with what he has. Blame has to lie with the transfer policy as we have too many average players on high salaries and therefore a lack of depth. The signing of Rakip and Jach in particular were completely bizarre. Yesterday was a rank performance, no doubt. But it was unexpected. The first goal is always very important and the outcome could have been very different had we not had conceded that dodgy penalty. I don’t think the league table is a fair reflection of the way we have played this year. We have a youth side with strikers.

Don't temember too many people complaining when we signed them.... People were saying, me included, that we should just pay the asking prices, because thats what we’ll end up paying roughly, but they won’t have had the summer to bed in, and that’s what happened, because Liverpool knew we’re desperate because we needed those positions filled and our football set up with scouting etc is so amateur it’s embarrassing. I’m starting to think we’re like Portsmouth were but only with so many players whereas Portsmouth were like it with almost every player.

I was one of many who complained that we should/could have bought 2 strikers for that money. I didnt want such a highly priced individual as Benteke he didnt seem agood fit for our club at the time. Loads of people were happy when we bought Benteke and Sakho, to say otherwise either means you are very forgetful or just love theu se of hindsight..... Damned if you do...damned if you don't situation for the board... So now it'll be a case of spend a little amount of money on a striker and people moaning that they haven't spent if it goes tits up or saying well done Hodgson for great scouting or they spend a ton and it goes the other way..... They are great or a Benteke flop...... There is no guarantee and people on this site thinking they have the answers all the time is worthy of rolling your eyes at. The likes of Lukaku is having a mare, Sanchez..... I'm sure people more in the know can name tons more... We aren't the only team in the premiership to have some woeful strikers.. I've been saying since the day Sam 'retired' that he walked because he wasn't backed but it seemed everyone wanted to accept the b/s. He clearly didn't rate Delaney (one of my all time favourite players) and no doubt didn't appreciate him being given a new contract the week before he 'retired'. Kinda undermined him not to mention the noises Parish was making about lack of money to spend in the summer. Why hang around and subject yourself to more firefighting? He ‘retired’ as soon as he’d redeemed his reputation after England and his mates in the media were talking to him again. He’d already been backed in January & got who he wanted (despite us having to overpay) & had said he would love to get Mama on a permanent - we did this despite him walking out. His resignation happened at the initial meeting to discuss transfers & the new season (by his admission) before any any such discussion even started. We believed what he said, paid a bonus based on him stating he wouldn’t be returning to club football & moved on. Turns out he was full of s*** but at least it meant We were due the £2m bonus back.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |
