Before he sustained an injury,Hennessey was being lauded for much improved performances and a resurgence in form.He comes back for the Watford game and he is being pilloried as he had been in the past. I would need to see Watford's equaliser on television once again before determining whether Hennessey could have come for the cross, but for the second he certainly wasn't culpable.

At the game I didn't think Hennessey was to blame for the first goal. Having seen it on tv, I think he has to take some responsibility because he may well have saved it if he had stayed on his line. As it was it was a classic case of being in ' no mans land '. Second goal...nothing he could have done. Hennessy has definitely risen to the challenge presented by Guaita and has been playing well prior to his recent injury. But having seen what Guaita can do, I much prefer him in goal.

WH has definitely improved and at times has kept us in games - but that is what he is employed to do.

Who of you think it would have still been 1-2 Watford if VG had still been in goal?

Sorry but I just don't get this. Why all this about VG being so great? He's made one very good save from Vardy that then hit the post, but the Chelsea goal should definitely have been saved (a weak shot in the middle of the goal that he got a hand to) and the De Bruyne goal, though obviously not intended, was a complete embarrassment. If WH had let those two in he'd have been abused on here for weeks. And I object to these comments that the defence have more confidence in VG than WH - that is pure guesswork.

I don't get the negativity around Guatia here, I'd immediately point out that he also made a fantastic save against Cardiff with a single hand, played very well against Wolves and the KDB goal was an absolute fluke, no-one is realistically stopping that I understand some sympathy for WH however as he does get a bit of a bashing by Palace fans. I would however suggest that although he might deserve the criticism, I don't really consider it his fault. If left to otherworldly laws of justice, WH would not be a premier league goalkeeper, I don't think most championship sides would be happy with him; as mentioned in an earlier post, he does not command his box, flaps at crosses and lacks any mobility or athleticism (I find it tragically hilarious at times when he tries to save the corner by running about 10 yards to clear the ball but never gets there). I think he deserves credit for consistently being there for Palace however the signing of a Guatia, who looks to be a far more talented keeper, was long overdue. WH has been out of his depth for years and I would suggest is a sub-par no.2 at best really. I went down early on Saturday as was dying for a slash but heard there was a sub, absolutely gutted when I was told it was the keeper!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I think a lot of people dislike Wayne Hennessey is because he took over from Speroni who was well liked [ by most ] but past his sell by date [ at this point I will put my tin hat on ] We now have two good goalkeepers in Guaita and WH either can be in goal and it would not bother me

Hennessey has done well this season, but looked like the flapper of last season when he came on at the weekend. Let's hope he sorts himself out when we need him next.

My main worry is the back four looked visibly worse once he came on. Maybe that was a coincidence, I hope for our sake it was if Guaita is out for a while. He got caught in no mans land for their equalizer. Either come and gather or clear it, or you don’t come off your line.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

Hi Neill hope you are well. I agree 100%. Hopefully VG will return ASAP.

You obviously are not or wasn’t a CB then, because as a CB you stick with your man and attack the ball, your keeper can be surrounded by players pushing and shoving and can’t always claim the ball, if he gives you a shout, THEN you leave it. You certainly don’t expect it and hope for the best Well first I was and yes you do stick with your man but there is more to good defending than attacking the ball . That's a decision to be made in the moment another might be to hold off the attacker to give someone else a better chance to clear or maybe even God forbid your goalkeeper to come and claim .

It was actually just an excellent corner, in many ways better then their winner.
