Thought we lacked fluency up front but otherwise a decent performance. Benteke was ok but I have a feeling that a match sharp Ayew would do substantially better. If CB gets his mojo back he'll be a handful for most teams but that is very much 50-50.

And both in this game and Fulham I can appreciate just how important Meyer is going to be. So often we needed his quality in the middle to break us out of the press. In his appearance today he played as a CAM so it's not too clear how he will do further back in this role making the play but I expect him to take cabaye's old spot.

Is the right reply. Had I had the same ST seat for two, five, ten, thirty years and I got a letter from CPFC “requesting” I move to another part of the stand/ground......... no HF is great, but as with any player,
no one is bigger than the club!

I’m sorry but after tonight’s atmospheric performance they really are the club and what it is based on “our famous atmosphere”

Maybe. At least with VAR I feel that most decisions will be correct, without VAR there is more doubt and the reasons why we despise so many referees.

I can't wait for it tbh

I used to think like you until I saw VAR in action in Italy. We are delusional if we think it will level up the playing field. In reality the top 6 will still get the marginal decisions and the rest will be even less likely to get them. It will be a dark day when VAR arrives.

Sportsmanship seems to have gone out of the window and the big clubs are the biggest offenders. To me the idea that players have a right to throw themselves on the floor following minimal contact is ridiculous. Both times Salah decided it was easier to cheat than stand up to a challenge and take a shot. Contact or not, it was clear he was looking for the foul, and made a meal of it.

Hopefully, VAR and retrospective bans will make players think twice. Although i don’t think they would have change the refs decision. He was far too keen to give the penalty and the red.

Again not a chance. If Wilf has won that pen the pundits would be talking about panels looking at the decision. If it’s a player from a lesser club it’s a dive if it’s Mo Salah it’s clever play. It’s bulls***.

This isn't directed at you personaly lefty27

Once again, who gives a s*** what the pundits say, Wilf has won us a lot of goals from doing exactly this, he's also, in my opinion, of course it's much harder to gauge this, lost us goals by doing it, it's a sad part of the modern game, the only way you'll get rid of it is if you get rid of penalties (and if they'd done that we would have been what was it, 9 goals down last season?) But it is part of the modern game so deal with it, it all evens out in the end. I'm just a little sick of every penalty we get, being a dyed in the wool bang on penalty and every time our oppos get one they are cheats.

Just man up, don't worry about the nasty evil pundits, they can't hurt you, I promise, they don't actually affect the game, it's not worth crying over them (and if that sounds a bit patronising, don't act like babies, grow up)

With all due respect have the rules changed this season? I was under the impression that a straight red was a 3 game ban whether you contest it or not??

This isn't a dig at you that is my genuine understanding..

Just had a look on the bin dippers fans forum. To be fair to them They were very complimentary of us and how we played and many of them were very impressed with AWB and agree he has a big future. They were also complimentary of Zaha and believe he would be a great asset to them!!

What was nice to see though was that they felt we will do well this season and not many teams will come to us and win by 2 clear goals. Fair play as normally over the years I've found them quite arrogant.

It was a weird game. For all there possession I didn't feel they actually created that much. Was very impressed with there right back Alexander-arnold... Th lad has a big future and Van Djik just oozes class.... also there keeper looked extremely comfortable and composed.

Not for me .I don't go to see a group of fans jumping up and down nor to see the colourful (very good) displays that have been created . I go to watch the team ,the players ,the match .

The atmosphere could have been better but was not poor and Im sure a goal would have resulted in a rocking Selhurst .

Thought we played well , well enough to get a draw against a team that was in The European cup final last season .Cant be too down with our performance and that we lost to a very soft penalty (ignoring the late breakaway after we had overcommitted ) makes me confident about the season ahead .

No shame in losing to a team that will probably finish runners up this year.
A lot of effort was put in by most of the team. A dubious penalty and Townsend hitting the bar, meant it could have been different.
Whilst I admire Roy’s loyalty to Benteke, it is clear he is not up to it. Sorloth looks lightweight. Definitely time for Ayew to be given a chance against Watford.
The league cup match against Swansea will hopefully give some run out time to Mayer.
Wan Bissau’s is pure class. Hennessy looks solid. Some positives.

I'd like the world cup edition of VAR please, where decisions improved considerably. I agree that bigger clubs will get more because they're in the penalty area more often with better players.

At least I won't feel as cheated by referees as I do now.

Thought first half we matched them. Looked really good, the passing was so fast and everyone wanted the ball. Very good performance against a good side. We will win a lot of games playing like that.
When you think the cost of their keeper (how comfortable is he on the ball ?!) could pretty much pay for the new stand , we did well.
