Good point re Charlton. However something has to change or we could just end up going that way under SP.

Whilst I am disappointed that we lost to Spurs it isn't this that has seriously hacked me off. A lot of good sides will lose to them. I am however totally hacked off regarding the way this club is run by Steve Parish and Co. Now before you all tell me "He saved the club in 2010" hear me out.

After 6 seasons in the prem we have zero to show for it as a club. The infrastructure is non existent including scouting , training ground, academy and not to mention the stadium. Every season is a bandaged solution to just get by and hope for the best. This season Parish is being totally found out and the likes of Bournemouth, Watford, Burnley and dare I say it Brighton are now bigger and better run clubs than us. We lost 4 key players last year and replaced one of them with Jordan Ayew who is one of the worst players i have seen at any level. Parish is reactive and still thinks he is running a small business. He has taken us as far as he can and we need an owner who can actually take this forward and bring us the stability that our club should be experiencing at this moment in time.

I await for all the Nigel's to come out and slate me on this.

I agree with you totally, a golden opportunity to become an established Premier league club missed, And Managers & Players have come and gone over the past 6/7 years, The only constant is Parish, I am afraid its not good enough. I am pretty sure Roy will leave at the end of the season as Parish did not support him in the transfer market. I think its gone too far for him to recover the situation.

As we say its totally different and pretty much unforgiving in the Premier for Managers as many find out and are shipped out and end up in the Championship or lower, Unfortunately with SP (Who is a lovely guy) he has been found wanting at this level, The last transfer window is turning out to be inadequate, And one SP and his side kick DF in my eyes are the main reason we flirt with relegation every year

There's no doubt that we haven't been run as well as some other clubs but at the same time some of your points I'd disagree with.

We came up with probably one of the worst squads in recent years when compared to other clubs. Cardiff are probably the only club to have come up with a weaker squad.

There was a choice to be made, buy players to keep us in the league or invest in the infrastructure. We simply don't make enough money to do both.

We have spent huge sums on players and wages. Benteke, Sakho, Wilf, Meyer just a few of the signings on over £100k a week and the combined transfer fees of those alone are about £75m.

Is Bournemouths tiny stadium really better than ours? Plus they break FPP because they have a rich owner.

Have Burnley, with the exception of a European run that lasted all of 5 minutes done much more than us - we did get to an FA Cup final that if it hadn't been for Clatten****....

Watford I accept as a team that has their recruitment nailed on which we should look to emulate.

Brighton, have they done that much more than us? Yeah their stadiums nice and shiny but they have a ridiculously rich owner who paid for it before they even got to the league.

We're not even a third of the way through the season yet. We've got a hard run in until the end of the month, but I'd sooner judge us by the end of December and have a bit of faith in a squad that I never really dreamed of seeing in my life playing for Palace.

We have Wilf, probably the best player every in a Palace shirt? A team full of internationals. A good manager. Plans for a new stand. Given our fiances, we've been punching/lucky for a while. We could always be Sunderland!

Probably should be merged with the Steve Parish thread, below.

On here you will come across 2 types of folks. Die hard Parish supporters who refuse to accept he has every done anything wrong, and Steve haters who think he is a terrible fit as a premier league chairman.

I lean a little bit towards the latter.

I believe we have stayed in this league more through luck, than judgement. One day we will go down, but that doesn't make Palace special, just a team outside the power houses in the league.

What does make us special is our repeated and consistent errors in all areas of the club.

You can boil everything down to what we have seen "lately" from Stevey P. Bear in mind at this stage of the game, if he hasn't got the idea, its not gonna happen.

1 - De Boer. When Nick Leeson decided to double down to get Bearings Bank out of trouble, even that decision was not as bad as the hiring of De Boer. A manager famous for possession based football, with a questionable man management style. Just an awful, awful decision.

2 - Fanatics situation. Its a bit of a lose/lose but the club have shown a textbook example of how NOT to handle something like this. Lack of visibility, 180 decision turnarounds, and total lack of joined up thinking in how to implement the singing section and poor communication to the fans.

3 - Squad management. After sitting back and watching Benteke miss 10, 20, 30 etc chances, we spend the off season signing Sorloth for 10m quid, a guy who couldnt cut it in the Dutch top flight, and Ayew on loan, essentially a number 10, not an out and out striker.

After knowing Cabaye was going to leave MONTHS ahead of the event, we do not address a proper replacement. After knowing we had a 10% chance of getting RLC back, we dont address this at all with recruitment.

Same old same old.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

Whilst you raise some valid points maybe look at it this way. Was it really that necessary to bring in Benteke and Sakho on such massive wages? None of those clubs that I mentioned have done that but yet they have kicked on ahead of us. Nathan Ake and David Brooks are prime examples of this. These players add genuine quality and have resale value. Benteke and Sakho have none. What a lot of these clubs have apart from Watford is a stable management team in place that the club has backed. Parish just hopes for the best. Leicester came up after us. Look what their owners did (Outside of winning the league). What has happened to the American money? Maybe a fresh approach is what we need.

Don't get me wrong.....I think all Palace fans have a perfect right to moan or praise their club.....Especially if you're parting with your hard earned cash....and likewise the club have the right to ignore you....to their benefit or cost.

Personally, for example, I've always been a massive fan of Parish.

He's only ever fallen down, just a little bit in my estimation, since he started banging that Susanna Reid chick.

The worst thing about FDB is not only the decision to hire him but to not invest in the players to play his system. We had Chungy playing wing back and Luka at CB for christ sake. This off season was his chance to show his good side. Its is clear Steve Parish does not have one.

Having spent nigh on £70 Mill in 2017, not forgetting the wages,I believe the financial constraints meant that we were not able to go on a significant spending spree and our net spend in the summer was around £10 Mill.

We heard that Meyer came with a big reputation in Germany but one can pose the question that if he was that good how on earth did we manage to get him on a 'Free' ? Besides I don't recall any great clamour for his services from some of the bigger clubs.Ayew scored 11 goals for struggling Swansea last season, including a goal in each of their games against us, so a 'loan' did seem like a shrewd acquisition.Sadly both have not been that impressive when they have been given their chance.

Again its not just about transfers Wilo. Its about the club from top to bottom. Zero stability, zero progress, zero infrastructure. That new stand will never get built. This club almost needs a complete rebuild.

I was just passing comment in relation to a statement about our last transfer window.

I shall leave commenting about the running of our club to others.

Sadly I can't argue with that.

She may be of a certain age....but I can't imagine she's short of a few stiff options.
