Yes, Olympic athletes are banned for using drugs and labelled cheats thereafter but that is different. The rule book clearly states which substances are prohibited and then athletes are subject to rigorous system analyses to see if any of those substances are in their body. Much more fact-related and scientific. the award of a penalty is much more subjective; much more based of interpretation. If a system such as you describe was introduced, I could see clubs going the legal route and challenging point deductions in the courts. Much more feasible is the instant replay review live at match time as in rugby. It's tried and tested.

I think you get into dangerous territory if you start changing results retrospectively. Opens the door to all sorts of claims and counter claims which could get messy. I'd argue drug cheating is substantially worse and does warrant it.... Also If a team can't be sure their goal counts, it could have a negative and unfair impact on their strategy eg playing for a draw when their equalising goal is going to be wiped. Been said before but I think the best solution is var even if it makes the game more stop start.

Glazier and Fairweather, I think you both make very valid points. The current system is inadequate and teams can get off very lightly, unless, of course you have a team with only one striker, when losing your only striker could be quite a blow.

hello peeps, Everton fan here.first thing is - thats the sofftest pen i`ve seen us get but from the word go something stunk the place out.the ref was blowing up before Niasse even hit the deck, the motd commentator straight off reckoned Dann tryed to get out the way- whilst taking two steps towards Niasse! Dann played the man not the ball = penalty by all the laws of the game, yet all the media pile in (Shearer, Clattenberg etc) to control the narrative. it stinks.

Go away and read the report of the Diving Panel. Oh, and it would be nice if your players didn't take it in turns to foul Zaha. Dirtiest, most unsporting lot I've seen at Selhurst. As for calling *him* a diver - talk about the pot calling the kettle black! Edited by chateauferret (26 Nov 2017 8.36pm)

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

The t*** should be banned for 15 games rather then the 2 he got. If that is a foul in your book you lot should go and play indoors. That is a no contact sport. Originally posted by Harry Tuttle

26 fouls in one game is the record for the season so far by quite a margin so don't bother pretending that your lot aren't thugs. I watched it and you're wrong. The panel watched it and said you're wrong. All the TV pundits did the same. Even Willo ended up saying it was wrong FFS. So obviously you do need experts to tell you it was wrong. The panel's findings are final and your club signs up to recognising them when it agrees to play to the Laws, so what your deluded eyes reckon they saw on the screen is neither here nor there. No foul, penalty given was wrong, Niasse deceived the ref, deserves a ban. End of. No argument. I used to have a good deal of respect for Everton but that's gone following that match. And you've destroyed it further with your disgusting attitude and lack of respect for the sport and your team's opponents. It's a shame really: they used to be entertaining, positive, sporting. What we saw a week ago Saturday - and I don't just mean that incident - was a disgrace to that reputation, built up over many years. On another matter your coaches seem to be doing a great job of pardewing Gylfi. Keep up the good work. (Actually that's a disgrace as well; he was class.)
