Eer, doesn't the immigrant argument cut both ways. Since the 1950s literally millions of Brits have migrated to the likes of Australia/NZ/Canada/US often to the same local complaints of immigrants taking jobs..etc. Are you suggesting that Britain shouldn't take immigrants, while happily exporting large numbers of its own people around the old commonwealth. It's not a one way street - any more than the EU is. Lots of Brits have moved to Europe but that was strangely ignored by the Brexit camp who seemed to claim it was a one way street. I find it amusing to meet British migrants to NZ who complain about "foreigners" moving to Britain. They don't see the hypocracy in their stance. The world is mixing, learn to live with it.

I think he said he supported controlled and monitored immigration but this week he's said Labour would guarantee full access to the single market and customs union and also he's not against free movement. What's becoming clear is he's confused over Brexit. The immigration, single market and customs union negotiations and nationalisation issues he has no answer to. He needs to be properly grilled on this because he's avoiding what's not likely. The Tories aren't perfect but there's more appreciation over the immigration and access to tariff free trade.

Edited by Eaglekiwi (28 Sep 2017 12.02am) Only it takes a Brit about as long as it takes to boil a kettle to mix in with Aussie and kiwi life whereas some immigrants here never will or intend to. And I bet a tiny minority of brits around the world arrive at their destination taking inferior pay. In fact they'll be taking their capital abroad with them whereas lots of immigrant earnings leave the U.K. We weren't aware that the EU intended to invite half of Europe over here to help stop pay covering a household. It was originally Western Europe. Now we have cheaper immigrants able to work without the need to train young brits. Then there is overcrowding and creating this spiral that is harder to break. We need immigration, just not an open door with no ways to turn the taps down.

A sorry lot by all accounts, but the same applies across the board. Honestly I think this is a difficult time for many, who see these politicians spouting out the usual and think 'do i want to vote for ANY of these people'
