London fire brigade reporting some people may never be recovered or accounted for formally. As it's sunk in a day or so later almost like a delayed reaction how utterly terrifying. Trapped against those Windows that high up knowing there was no way out. Can only hope many were in bed asleep and overcome by fumes before they knew what was happening but in reality that's a minority of people. I did wonder what I would do in that situation and considered blocking up and filling every sink and bathtub and allowing the water to flood the place to keep some of the flames at bay. Appears one resident had a similar idea which allowed her to get out.

I think I'll go with the likelihood of public offices closing ranks on this and leaving private sector companies and individuals to hang.

The implication of nearly a decade of public sector cut backs could be very far reaching. Public safety and security shouldn't ever be compromised but I find it difficult to believe that no one could have forseen that this building was a potential death trap and enforce changes? Third world here we come! Edited by Henry of Peckham (16 Jun 2017 6.57am)

You're right. Profit-making and keeping the shareholders happy, always comes before basic health and safety these days. 'Cut corners and then cut further corners again' culture is alive and thriving.

Inquiry will investigate, report in a few years time, once the heat is off, that no one was really to blame, lessons have been learnt etc etc. In the meantime, the execs or council officials will have skipped out with early retirement packages or golden handshakes, so they'll be no point taking any actions. End result- lots of tutting and finger wagging about what could have been done better, no prosecutions, maybe a few paltry fines. Whitewash, in short.

Cladding used has been banned in Germany and other countries for years. In Germany it's in the same class as unprotected wood.

Thats donald trump say it twice styly! styly!!!!!! The trouble is that there are so many stories out there. Some will be true, some embellished and some just lies or wrong. It will be a long time before we find out the truth. Even then I don't think it will give people the answers or closure they want.

If its a warm weekend as predicted, and more comes out about people being told they will be evicted for reporting health and safety issues, and more about the conservative chief not doing anything as housing minister for 4 years about safety,,,,,i can see this turning nasty, hope not in respect of the fallen, but hot weather is always a precurser to a riot, and if the details keep coming out,,as they are,,im steering clear of ladbroke grove! Sky also reported the panels used were flamable,,,the non flamable ones were £2 dearer,,,the entire cost of the dearer non flamable ones over the whole building was £5000 pounds,,,,unbelievable! unbelievable! Thats trump styly,,,styly,,,,,,,,,,

I don't think you are being realistic or fair. Before you put people in jail guilt has to be clearly established. Perhaps at some point in life you yourself will be thankful of that fact. People sometimes sully the name of justice because it rarely produces the 'good and evil' outcomes that they want to see...and when this happens they aren't being realistic. Often justice is a reflection of life....which is often grey and not black and white. If something can't be proven you don't give people to the mob outside.
