Just a further thought to the "offside" incident.. although the lino flagged for offside, albeit incorrectly, play continued and Wilf was taken out by Heaton. My thoughts are that although the ref was going to give a free kick to Burnley, which technically made the ball was dead, Wilf and Heaton did not know this so Heaton taking Wilf out would normally be a RED card, certainly at least a yellow. Why wasn't Heaton spoken to and still punished for his "off the ball" challenge. If during a game an outfield player was kick an opposing player up in the air in an off the ball incident, whether the ball is dead or not, he would probably be sent off so why not in this incident...

I have wondered about this too. However, at worst, the ref would've given Heaton a yellow, and there's very little chance of a 'keeper getting a second card during the game - except perhaps towards the very end for time wasting.

It's frustrating because that was a leg-break hack job on Zaha. I can't imagine how we would've all felt if we'd watched Wilf being carted off the pitch with his lower leg flapping in the breeze, and the 'keeper going unpunished because it was incorrectly ruled a dead ball situation.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

We have been into all that before, Willo, but in case you've forgotten he should a) not have been anywhere near Sir Alex in the first place; and b) refereed the match impartially.

1. He never went looking for Ferguson nor would have known his movements. They happened to end up in the same place.

2. He certainly, as always, refereed the match impartially but clearly not to your likeing.

... Ok Willo, just of interest, please explain how you would know this.. what inside information do you have

2. He certainly, as always, refereed the match impartially but clearly not to your likeing.

... The way he refereed the Cup Final was very questionable, did not show impartiality with some very important decisions, which were not to the liking of many neutrals too not just us Palace fans .. even the pundits questioned his so called "impartial" performance and decisions..

So you accept that 'Demotion' does occur based on performances. And so it should.

I shall treat all the 'Political clout' with derision.
If Mark had performed like Attwell he would have suffered the same consequences.

At the end of the day there is robust system for measuring the performances of PL referees after each and very game.
Each PL game is evaluated with scrutinisation of every decision using the match footage and 'ProZone' to measure the referee's performance in great detail. Match delegates assess the accuracy and consistency of decision making and their management of the game.
So yes there is a 'Forensic' analysis of the referee's performance after each and every game.

The pundits are entitled to their opinions and NO referee is above criticis, "Goes with the territory" and all that.

I have already commented on HOL about some decisions in the Final and I am sure that many believe I was just trying to be a provocative stimulus on HOL. Far from it - as I mentioned on HOL I made the exact comments to a Chelsea supporter in my 'Local' - He commented that I was being very gracious and honest and my wife said words to the affect "He is very fair".So what I said outside I said on HOL - I was just giving my 'Take' on some of the decisions.

Why do we gave to go through this every time we have a s**t ref. Willo is never going to say a ref had a bad game, so why argue with him. Pointless.
