Obviously flares and smoke bombs are not Ideal and I would not risk bringing one to a game especially as you could find yourself banned. But I half expect this type of thing especially at an away derby game. I am an experienced supporter and feel I can read how the supporters are around me or in the pubs or station etc. I often take my lad now 14 and don't have any problems. At Chelsea we moved forward a bit as were stuck under the upper tier we stood in the isle not a problem. If I found my seat in the middle of the HF ( keep it up lads ) I would move a bit and enjoy the trip. In the old days if you scored you would hear the coins raining in that was a lot more freaky

I agree with you mate I always thought you went to a football match to watch the game but it seems I was wrong with some of the stupid posts on this thread and name calling you have just had.
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

From my understanding, the stuff that comes out is only toxic depending on what you make it from? The article above alluded to a marine flare, which is basically like a firework, which I don't think are like smoke bombs. Recreationally, you tend to let people know you're using them and probably not in a crowded space. They're a pyrotechnic because they're a controlled explosive (the moderator chemical means the reaction is slowed down rather than rapid. The oxidiser and accelerates in most flares and smoke bombs are an explosive compound).

Could be an issue for some people, but if they knew that there were pyrotechnics they could be forwarned. An example of the issue with bangers, my wife has an issue with loud bangs (ooer) from her days in the SA police reserve when she was involved in a protracted shoot out, and a close friend of hers died in her arms. If its a surprise it brings it all 'right back'. But with flares, ideally I suspect it would be better if the person was right down the front, so it could be thrown onto the pitch side (if anything goes wrong, or to dispose of).

I think you are the one that needs to crawl back into your darkened room as you just do not see how damaging this is to the club and of course the cost and bad publicity that will more than likely happen once the FA stick their oar in. I am the "sort of person" who doesn't get their knickers in a twist over a few flares at a big London derby. Happens all the time at Selhurst and I don't worry too much about it then either. It's not a big deal. I think you can see by the posts on this thread that most others aren't wetting their pants over this either. Most people are still buzzing that we beat the runaway league leaders on their own patch and not moaning and crying that a couple of flares spoilt the day, like you are.

It's not a big deal. Been a while since we had one of them None of our London games really feel like a derby, compared to our South London games. Still, if we stay up, we'll have Brighton next season.

I assure you it did not spoil my day and I do not have my knickers in a twist as you put it. As for you thinking its not a big deal then I suggest you direct your post to Steve Parish and see what he says. My youngest grandson has more sense than you by your very childish accusations and ranting's.
