What any of these attempts to insult my club has to do with Pardew's form at Crystal Palace is a mystery, but I fear you'd rather denigrate another club, rather than explain why you're defending Pardew's character/performance. Probably because you can rely on the crutch of cliche, ad hominem attacks, strawman arguments and any other logical fallacy you care to lean on.

TheFish - judging by your posts you are an intelligent and articulate man hoping for an intelligent and articulate discussion here. I'm afraid that you are going to be disappointed as playground insults are par for the course here along with random nonsense.

Yes you did warn us of what was likely to happen here under Pardew's reign and yes most of it has come true and if you look at the other threads here you will see that there is a great deal of anti Pardew sentiment here but I'm afraid that most of the people here don't like home truths

That's hardy press coverage for starters, and copying a load of post match frustration off of social media is hardly journalism.

But it was full of evidence and direct quotes and the photo was of hostile looking Palace fans shooting daggers at Pardew. Or it wasn't. It wasn't even fit to wrap chips.

Why are you bothering to come on a message board to try and get us to agree with Newcastle fan's opinions of Pardew? After 1 game of the season when the transfers haven't even been finished.

I don't care what Newcastle think of him. But the desperation to hear that they were right to harangue him for christ knows how long reeks.

They are a needy bunch these Geordies aren't they

I think every Newcastle fan with hindsight will admit that Pardew probably deserved less hatred and vitriol than was pushed his way, while Ashley needed to shoulder more of the blame.

From the outside, a club that consistently has a negative net transfer spend and yet continues to survive in the top division is clearly doing ok. Even if that doesn't meet the requirements/expectations of the fans.

With the hindsight Palace fans are getting at the moment, I think many will acknowledge that some of the "warnings" from Toon fans weren't quite so wide of the mark.

Pardew does seem to be able to go on runs - either of wins or losses. And he seems to struggle to know how to turn around the poor runs.

Anyone watching games like against West Brom, where teams set up to defend against us, will have to acknowledge that the team don't seem to have a coherent game plan for combating that. Let alone a plan B for when that isn't working.

And anyone listening to Pardew's pre-match comments, talking about transitional periods etc would have to be frustrated that a side 18 months into his tenure are only starting out a transitional period, and apparently haven't made a lot of progress towards it over the close season (experimental formations and personnel during key friendlies, with players who then don't even make it onto the bench for example).

I do find myself seeing parallels between Pards covering the ass of his chairman at Newcastle at the cost of his standing with fans there with the current situation at Palace.

I would find it easier to criticize Pardew if I believed that he has total control of Palace transfer activities. I don't think he has.

My take on it is Pards helped the team over achieve in the first half of last season to the point where relegation wasn't an issue.

He also helped sign one of our best players.

His management is obviously one dimensional and based on motivation more it seems than tactics. First half bounce this was ok.

But when the wind leaves your sails it really causes a flop.

I honestly think we're still in a better position becuase of having Pardew than say if we still had Pulis.

Although the transfer window has been difficult, I have hope that we'll look back on it with a smile.

Many players have been moved on, which is a clear indication the board are trying there best to overhaul a squad which when not overachieving simply isn't good enough for this division.

That being said they have work to do to bring in more new faces of the required level. Some proven and some young.

As for Pards.... It's clear he hasn't been given the contract extension he wanted. So the board are obviously considering his position. However personally I think it's unfair to judge him based on the squad he currently has and he should be given sometime to mould the players brought in this window.

That being said I doubt he'll be our manager this time next year.

As for Newcastle fans thoughts towards Pardew it really is bizarre.

They have the worse chairman imaginable and yet they constantly lay all blame at Pardews door. Even three managers after he left.

He didn't leave you in the terrible state you're in now. He clearly helped you overachieve like he has us. Your investment in your squad came to late. That's not the managers fault.

Blog after blog after blog is still being written by Newcastle supports regarding Pardew. Really get over it. He left an environment / board he couldn't work with. No manager since has been able to either. Yet all your problems are his fault.

I'd take Pards over Pulis any day. But that being said I don't think he's our long term solution. But regardless I wouldn't act the way said Newcastle fans do.

Jokers.

Interesting point and not one to be easily dismissed. As I've said before, I refuse to accept that the peak of his ambition in the January window was to just sign Adebayor. Parish appears to exert an iron grip on transfers irrespective of the managers wishes.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Of course Pards hasn't got complete control over transfers. Crazy for anyone to suggest he has.

Not here to gloat or laugh or say we told you so.
But been reading palace fans on twitter and watching their games mainly via MOTD, nut really history is repeating.
The long winless runs, the baffling subs, the dreadful football, alienation of players (usually due to inability to man manage), the absolute spin "we play good attacking football" yet his teams are toothless.
At palace as at Newcastle, and his other clubs starts off well, gets his feet under the table then it all goes wrong.
It's down to his brilliance when the team win, but its bad luck, conspiracies, bad refs, the transfer window etc etc when it goes badly.

This man will ruin everything that's enjoyable about supporting your club. He'll divide the squad, divide the support and make it a pain in the arse to attend games because it's so dull.

I can see it has already started by skimming through this board. Don't fall into the trap of battered wife syndrome "well who else is better". Get out while you can

Sorry but this is hilarious, a Newcastle fan coming onto our board like they are in any sort of high ground to do so! Your club has done nothing than go down hill fast since you hounded out Pardew! We are struggling for form and yes there is there is an element of divisiveness within the club right now. Lets get real though it has nothing to do with Pardew specifically. Any manager with our recent record would inevitably cause divisiveness amongst fans as everyone has their own opinion on the state of affairs. This bit is my favourite "I can see it has already started by skimming through this board. Don't fall into the trap of battered wife syndrome "well who else is better". Get out while you can" Like many others have pointed out like who? Carver then Mclaren then Benitez and relegation. You won't mind if we don't take your advice and start thinking the grass might be greener do you???!!!

Lets see how the rest of this transfer window goes and then September, no doubt we need to now invest in the squad more than ever after some departures but keep the faith and be grateful we are where we are.

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that.
