Genuinely believe that some on here want us to spunk millions just for the sake of it. We couldn't secure any signings, move on.

For the record, Adebayor is better than a number of players on the move today.

This. Finally a bit of sense tonight. Glad to see it's not just over sensitive Fifa addicts who think we can sign world beaters at the click of a finger on here..

So disappointing that we have not spent loads of money average players and retain our crazy transfer policy on only buying players that we need or that are 'value for money.'

I remember when we used to actually have ambition and signed players like Ismael , akinbiyi and took gambles on the likes of Zohar and kaviedes......the good old days.

Not to mention Kuqi... What a gem that was..

We can still sign players arfter the window shuts if we send the premier league papers of proof that the deal is going through or someone is having a medical.

You mean not spending money on average players like the £3 million on McCarthy, £5 million on Mutch and £9 million on Wickham??

Oh well let's hope Adebayor doesn't get injured or take to long to remember where the net is otherwise it's back to square one of not scoring goals or creating chances to either.

Oh, diddums. Would you prefer it if we squandered £30m on an overhyped player who did nothing and the got injured, then went into a tailspin down to the Championship and beyond?

If so please proceed to The Valley, where you can see the remains of a club that tried this.

bit of a let down, we aint going down, and other teams spending well around us

in dier need of a goal scorer, massive amounts of money coming in next season

a chance to gamble on getting into uncharted territory

a squad hit by injuries, and all we get is a freebe??

TBF it was probably one of the shi*test deadline days league wide really, pissed I stayed up for it.

Not disappointed with 'just' Adebayor myself, quietly confident in fact.

Anyway, despite other historic implosions, I cannot see us being one of the 3 worst teams by the end of this league season, not by some way. A nice run of league games in Feb, believe !

£3 million for a young, developing, English and premier league proven goalkeeper seems good to me. One for the future, and put in a blinder against Chelsea.

£5 million for another English midfielder who is better on the bench than the alternatives. Remember we can't have a 25 man squad of first teamers... He puts a shift in and works hard.

And £9 million for yet another young English striker who's also proven in this league but hasn't had the right quality service so far? Remember everyone slagging Murray off in his first season? I rest my case. Better than the £25 million we DIDN'T spend on Berahino who's scored about 6 more goals in this league than Wickham has.

Stop being so fickle.

Stop being so fickle.

When you say the 'proven' premier league goalkeeper do you mean the TWO Premier league appearances McCarthy made prior to joining us in which his team conceded 10 goals??.. Very proven..

Have you genuinely been impressed with Mutch in his 18 appearances so far?? Worth £5 million?? English or not he's been poor and not justified his price tag. Working hard as you say isn't a specific talent.. it's something expected of all professional players.

And yes I'm referring to Wickham who has spent the majority of his career in the physio room and has weighed in with 12 goals in 86 prem appearances... But its ok because he just hasn't had 'the right service' eh??

They were a waste of money.. it's not fickle it's called being a realist. No I wouldn't of wanted £21 million spent on Berahino, never said I would of wanted that, but another striker and an attacking midfielder wouldn't of gone a miss. Let's not forget we struggle to score goals and create chances.. it's been like that for about 8 weeks now bar the cup games.

Love the way you've 'rested your own case' to... That must of taken some persuading!!

You have to realise that any differing view to Calzardi is wrong, very wrong, you're not allowed to have a mind of your own.

He played a blinder for 13 matches for Reading in the premiership leading to QPR buying him. Whilst he may not be proven, he has experienced the league and is young in goalkeeping terms.

86 premier league appearances for a 22 year old striker is pretty good considering you think he's crocked. honestly I thought and still think he was a good buy at a good price. He will score goals for us once he settles down and has a proper run, we look a better side with him in.

Mutch is also a good squad player and another who offers us something different in midfield. We are yet to see the best of him granted but we will.

None of these are bad buys, they piss all over the likes of Kebe, Marange, Campana etc. They are all young, have experienced the league before hand and have added to our depth. Our 25 is much stronger than last season and I expect it to be stronger again after the summer. It's not hard to see what we are building, patience is what is needed. Luckily the guys in charge of the money have that.
