Brand clashes with reporter over the New Era Estate rent row

I actually have to agree with Russell Brand on that one. The journalist was being an idiot, attempting to make a pathetically cheap point and not even succeeding very well.

I'm in agreement. The guy clearly went into it looking for a reaction.

I notice that this is the top story on the dailymail site right now. Brand's right really, there is what amounts to a campaign to attack him for speaking up.

He's spot on, the media turn up with a view to creating a story rather than covering the story.

That's his job to interview people and asked questions that they don't like.
Fair point as far as I can see,He's paying an offshore company his rent in an area where he say's rents are too high,£76.000 a year.
Because people like him move into "trendy areas" like Shoreditch They are the ones that push the rents up.

always a Norwood boy, where ever I live.

Then he should schedule an interview. Turning up to a event such as a demonstration, to ask questions about personal matters is poor journalism. Its seeking to create a story, rather than report on the story that's going on around them.

On a sensational level its like turning up to cover a civil rights protest of the 60s, and asking Martin Luther King about his infidelity.

This whole 'people are hypocrites' isn't news, everyone is by nature hypocritical. Those that claim not to be are likely either in therapy, the new messiah or lying - Because truly moral people are rarer than rocking horse s**t.

Interesting how hijacking Brand at an unrelated event is somehow cheap journalism, but hijacking a politician seems to be fair play. It seems that Brand wants to be seen as some sort of political messiah with the answer to all life's ills when it suits him, but to be able to retreat into being a 'celebrity' when he doesn't want to be distracted.

Actually, reading that back, I may be being a little harsh, but he's a total c**t so I really don't care.

Is he a c*** for raising awareness of an issue where people are being stitched up, and as a result probably helped them to a victory?

He should've bought a smack den as part of his war on drugs programme and lived there till he turned back in to a comedian.

Good luck to russ. At least he's trying to change things.

Russell gets asked by a reporter about his rent being paid to a Virgin Islands shell company and calls the reporter a 'snide' for asking this. Interesting...

That's the rest of his credibility gone....... what was left of it.

Smacks of Bono-esque hypocrisy!
