Compared to many people who are/were into music i didn't think live was always better.
however, two concerts do stand out: Bob Marley and the Wailers -Hammersmith Easter1976. Just emotional power

Lou Reed, Rainbow Finsbury Park, 1974 It was The Rock and Roll Animal Tour - got tickets for two nights in a row - just to hear the Hunter intro to Sweet Jane - one of the Lous I liked best.

Nico -at the Hebden Bridge Working Men's Club, 1984. THe audience split between those who wanted her takes on the Velvet's stuff and those, like me - happy to hear The End,Janitor of Lunacy etc With fights breaking out in the hall -
Nico just said, "now, now" and shrugged.

David Bowie - Milton Keynes Bowl 1982
Echo & the Bunnymen Shepherd's Bush last year.
V2003 - Coldplay were especially good.
And my first ever Tom Petty at the brighton Centre many moons ago.

Seen some rough ones too - all groups I liked just the wrong time in their history -
Dexy's after their 3rd Album,
The Kinks in Worthing
Madonna last year (for the benefit of my girl at the time!)
David Bowie on his Glass Spider tour.

I'm sure there's lots of others that were OK - The Cure, ABC, Steve Harley, Ian Hunter & Mick Ronson.

There's nothing like it for making the hairs on your neck stand up - bit like Palace were a long long time ago,

Must agree with the Bowie at Milton Keynes as I was there also. Great Days. I believe it was over a couple of days if I'm correct. Went to both, one with the now Mrs and one with the mates, pissed at both!

Was that the Serious Moonlight tour? If so I will strongly disagree, Bowie seemed to just get the gig done and he sacked one of the best guitar players (Stevie Ray Vaughan) I've ever seen before he got to the UK.

Not sure if I've conributed before but best gig, is Ian Dury at the Hammy Palais c '89/90. Radiohead big tent tour (Not sure that's the correct name). Wilko Johnson every time I've seen him, which is a lot. Kings of Leon in Brighton.

May well have been James Blake at festival #6 last summer.

But then it could have been square pusher at the glade stage in 2002.

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra at the Glasgow Concert Hall in 2005. Tamsin Little dispatched the Bruch with total mastery and Berlioz' Symphonie Fantastique made your hair stand on end; you cane out feeling as though you'd been to se a classic Hitchcock and daredn't look over your shoulder. Electrifying.

Rammstein at Wembley February 2010.

Such a mad show they put on. I actually think it's such a spectacle you almost don't have to like their music.

Plus they were supported by another favourite band, Combichrist. Mind blowing concert. Saw them again at the o2 2 or 3 years later. Was actually a better show for Rammstein but the support wasn't anywhere near as good.
