Hi Steve! Will you be looking to appoint a manager who is currently out of work? Or would you consider paying compensation to another club if you thought he was the right man for the club? Happy New Year! Edited by ((((((Kirby)))))) (01 Jan 2011 11.27pm)

Was it just a coincidence that Chris Hughton was at todays game or was he checking the team out?
really? so hes in the picture? would love to see him at palace steve, hes a top manager & a motivator which is just what we need! I too would be very happy to see Chris Hughton arrive. That would be a major boost to our season which has been pretty awful so far. I just hope that with the search for a new manager going on that people don't forget that we need more players. Lets be honest our defence is appalling and I hope that CPFC2010 remember why George Burley was in such a mess in the first place. Our team has some major holes in it. Also please, no more players on loan. We need players that are signed up and 100% behind the team in this situation. Thanks for answering questions on here. Its very interesting.

A ( maybe too late ) question. Are you looking to appoint someone short term that you think could keep the club in the Championship, or are you looking longer term - and possibly someone that is on board with building again from L1 next year ?

He only wanted to answer mens questions
You can't be serious, surely?! Do you have a time for when you'd like the new manager to be appointed by? Appreciate you don't want to make a snap decision and appoint the wrong man.

Hi CPFC2010, fair play coming on here again, massive respect. Are you going to get involved with the transfers etc until a new manager is appointed, or is it going to be left to Dougie? Or is there going to be no activity at all until a new manager takes over?

Do you think George Burley by taking the Palace job was on a hiding to nothing,in much the same way Alan Smith was the last time we came out of administration? Decimated squad,no coaching staff, embargo,it would take one hell of a manager to turn it all around in six months.

No one is suggesting the new owners are at fault here but i do think it was a tough job. He failed at it mind so I don't think too many disagree with him being sacked.

Hi Steve. I've been really encouraged by most of what you've said and done since taking over but, to be honest, that changed today. I've copied below some queries and obseverations I've posed on the forum earlier today and, as yet, I don't think anyone's come close to countering the points I've made. I'd appreciate it if you'd give it a shot - I'd certainly like some assurances as to your reasoning and your plans for the future as I think George Burley has been very, very unlucky.
I'd say we are performing worse than we should be expected to, though. Fair enough we don't have the biggest budget or the best players but we shouldn't be getting relegated. Under Burley we were in danger of being cast adrift: surely it's better to admit a mistake was made and deal with the situation now rather than react a few years down the line when we're in the lower leagues and with sub 10,000 attendances? The facts speak for themselves: The board said that they had the long term in mind and were prepared to back Burley. The most successful managers are those given time to develop their ideas. They gave him 6 months which is an awful lot more than some would have given him. It's not as though they sacked him after 10 games, is it? Burley has great experience and proven success at this level. So what? Taylor had great experience at all levels. Trevor Francis had great experience. Means f*ck all in my opinion. Plenty of teams who have struggled in the first half of a season have gone on to have a decent year. Doncaster last season would be the prime example - I believe they were in the relegation zone at Christmas but look at them now. And plenty of teams that have struggled in the first half of the season have gone on to struggle in the second half of the season and have been relegated... Teams who panic get nowhere - especially in the long term. Completely disagree that sacking someone after 24 games of a very dissapointing season is panicking. Burley had an unbelievable amount of bad luck - key injuries in an already wager-thin squad and some abysmal refereeing decsions at crucial times (Sheffield Utd the best example). You don't lose 10 out of 13 away games by bad luck. You aren't in the relegation zone at Christmas by bad luck. If you want to talk about luck, how about Leicester, Watford, Burnley home? We probably should have lost all 3. I haven't seen anything to effectively counter any of these points I'm afraid - and I can't see anyone of simlar capability/track record who realistically may take the job. Undoubtedly a good decision??? well I've tried to answer your points from someone who agrees with the desicion

Actually... I have a few questions What kind of timescale are you giving yourselves to replace Burley? Will this be done in time to bring a few faces in over the Transfer Window? How are Dannsy's contract negotiations going?
