Todays first download is a set by Frankie Miller and his band which was recorded at two gigs played in the Netherlands. The first 7 tracks of this boot were recorded at The Countdowncafe in Arnhem in Sept 93. The remaining tracks were recorded at The Carre in Amsterdam in june 1982. Both shows are taken from fm broadcast and sound great. I've not posted anything by this artist before - and I've another show by FM to post in a couple of days.... When I worked for a music magazine in the late 70's, we had a courier come into the office and dish out sweatshirts to everyone which said on the front "Frankie Who?" - and on the back said "Frankie Fukcing Miller - That's Who!" - which is the way the band are introduced on this boot...... Todays extra download is the first time this band have been posted on the mp3 thread. They are called Point Blank and they come from Texas. They were formed in 1974 and released 6 albums between then and 1982. They had limited success with a single called "Nicole" from their album called "American Expre$$" - the single made #20 on the Billboard rock tracks chart and #39 on the Hot 100 chart. They were know for almost relentless touring - sometimes playing over 200 shows a year. The band split in '82, but reformed in 2005 for a benefit gig - and after that they continued touring. In 2009 they released their first album for 27 years... they're still going today. This is a bootleg from a King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show which was recorded in Atlanta Georgia in 1980. This is in superb quality.... this band play wicked southern bluesy/rock.... thoroughly recommended!.
