An intriguing case. A song thought to be written by a slave and sung in honour of a feted black player is deemed racially problematic. You could find lots of things to ban but they’re going after things people care about and identify with. You’ll just get people doing or singing things to antagonise people when most didn’t know what they meant or originated from.

Yep. Or emigrating became even more appealing. Fight it or abstain or just leave and let them win. I think flight from the country will accelerate if things continue upon their current pathway. Still for the moment the direction of the country is still in play....maybe Farage will do something again. We've never seriously considered leaving but If things continue to worsen then I might have to consider what's best for our young boys. Edited by Stirlingsays (19 Jun 2020 1.52pm)

I know you could maybe get in to Aus or NZ with your teaching skills, but its not a certainty, and could you still get in to Europe now we are ou just curious where people think they can go!

Edited by Stirlingsays (19 Jun 2020 1.52pm) Where is the question. I think moving further away from London will suffice for another generation. My kids are in their 20s now but I have two grandchildren and I'd dearly love them all to move with us to the West Country or the like. France is roomy but mainland Europe has its own problems. Australia is too hot and the US is big and easy to hide in but also a big culture shock. Not sure I want that at my age.

As your children are at adult age, this kind of decision would be later down the line for them. In the US, things have accelerated more quickly than I anticipated. Regardless of who wins in November there are going to be significantly increased divisions over the next few years. If it came to leaving I'd be looking at a strong red state like Wyoming.

Yep, somewhere with low population density and nice and boring. Wyoming does have the Yellowstone super volcano which is of a concern. My brother lives in the US but I'm not sure if I could make that change now.

I think the developments over these next few years will begin to make courses of action more clearer. I suppose that's a kind of silver lining.

Europeans settling in a country settled by the English themselves and then later Europeans is hardly 'destroying their culture and their history'. If you were talking about an African or Asian country I might agree with you.
