This is the issue.I cannot see any club matching his wages. Benteke himself might feel that it is in his best interests to go to another club in order to kickstart his career and in the circumstances be willing to take a drop in salary. This scenario could unfold if he was frozen out of the team.At present he is in the first team with no real competition, he is collecting his sizeable salary so perhaps no real incentive to go elsewhere. Edited by Willo (04 May 2019 12.35pm) Wishful thinking. The money is so astronomical this doesn’t happen.

Should we loan him out to a European club, pay half is wages to release 60 grand to pay someone else.

The club, when the loanees go back, have 3 strikers. All 3 are tall, strong, decent in the air and can't score goals in our current system. Where was the strategy when we decided to get 3 players all identical in their strengths for a team that plays fairly narrow and rarely crosses the ball. The club needs to either move all of them on and get strikers suited to our play, or play to their strengths. I still think there is a player in Benteke that with the right system could be coaxed out again, but we can't afford £120k a week or whatever it is on a player that doesn't suit us. If we could get him and Wickham off the books this summer, that would free up significant wages against our FFP limit to invest in the squad. The only thing Benteke has done well when he has played this season is give Wilf a bit more space by occupying the centre backs and giving him someone to run off.

it would cost 9 million to pay Benteke and Wickham off for there last season. Buy one, couple on loan, then Sorloth for the big option off the bench, wouldn't cost a fortune.

We weren't playing those tactics when wd signed them. We played more direct/long ball football. When sam was hete he played wilf on the right, andros on the left and got early crosses into benteke. So the real question is why you would change tactics when it doesn't suit any of your forwards.

Christian Benteke looks likely to leave Crystal Palace this summer after being the subject of a £15 million offer from Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng Taishan. The forward has been offered a contract worth £8 million a year after tax — he would join up with Marouane Fellaini, his Belgium compatriot, at the club, who are fourth in the league. Benteke, 28, has one year left on his contract at Palace, worth £130,000 a week. He has been available for sale for the past two years after a loss of form and a number of injuries. Palace smashed their transfer record to sign him for an initial £27 million, rising to £32 million, from Liverpool in 2016.

We’re we to sell him for £15million, I’d love to see us reinvest this in a younger, more dynamic player who would be on significantly less wages. Someone like Che Adams has bags of potential I think and would fit nicely. Weirdly, I think I’d miss Big Ben if these rumours were to actually happen. A lot of opinions about him but people forget that his game has had to change to the player he was at Villa where crosses were being whipped in for him. The game now is far more possessions ASR’s on the turf which just isn’t his natural game sadly.

would people have him for 4 years on 60k a week? including this coming year. crazy as it may seem, I would. and I'd get Bolasie back when we and if sell Wilf. it would transform Benteke. or at least get a player who'll put in 2 dangerous early, whipped crosses a game. Wilf is a wonderful player but his game is awful for Benteke.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |
