Interesting to note that Roy Hodgson is slowly shortening in price over the last few days. Now as short as 3/1in places.I personally think he will be our new manager, the club will ride out the supporters revolt no problem. We'll storm up the league, Roy's name will be sung to the tune of "he's one of our own", I'm warming to the idea, he really is the only safe as houses option out there.

This explains perfectly why Dyche is not good for Palace!
Cynic or realist? It's a fine line! |

They'll hate him like they hated Sam, then they'll see the light.

[quote=Glɑzier;3180506] Quote Agreed. Want Pellegrino but I don't think he's Parishes "long term" man. We might get 3 years out of him, which is fine as far as I'm concerned.

Nonsense. There's a difference between expecting to go to the next level and having an ambition to progress. If you don't have ambitions to improve as a club, what is the point? Could be said in most ares of life, it's a losers mentality. There is also a massive difference between trying to progress in the wrong way "too much too soon type" and trying to progress in the right way. For every Charlton there are many other examples of clubs who've methodically and strategically implemented progress successfully. I'd argue accepting our lot will inevitably end up in tears, you have to keep looking at ways to improve and whilst I already stated that Dyche wouldn't actually be all that bad and perhaps for now would give us a bit of stability, I doubt he'd improve us all that much and I fear some of our skilful players who we've worked hard for and payed good money for will stagnate under his system and tactics.

Edited by Mstrobez (03 Jun 2017 3.15am) Dyche never struck me as lacking ambition but also appears a strong and down to earth character. Allardyce made very clear the value of respecting a point and not conceding and the the likes of Townsend and Zaha responded to strong handling.

Can't see the objection to Dyche. You manage and play in the best and most pragmatic style for the players and team you have. With what he had at Burnley, no choice with how he played. In any event, when we played Burnley their build up play was 100% better than ours. He'll have a massively better team at Palace and no reason why his style won't and couldn't adapt slightly. It is already clear we tried and failed with a more expansive style with Pardew. Dyche wants the job and has proven he knows the league and has done wonders with limited budget. 100% best choice for me - get it done.

Dyche has had to deal almost excusively in the Championship to build his squad and he still kept them up. Here he will have a 28m CF and a 30m valued winger at his disposal. We are far more ambitious than Burnley and i think he likes that. He's not likely to be poached by the big boys because he's unfashionable so he would stay long term

People dismissing Dyche and his win percentage in the prem are either a. Really thick, b. Clueless about football or c. An agent for a manager other than Dyche who wants the job. OF COURSE HIS WIN PERCENTAGE AT BURNLEY ISN'T HIGH! HE MANAGES BURNLEY! What he has achieved with his budget is nothing more than sensational. I doubt any other manager in the prem could do a better job with that group of players. Now, of course, if you genuinely don't like the type of football he plays then that is another matter. Personally I think he'd be a decent shout although I have Pellegrino just in front. Why? Not because of the fancy name but because of his relationship with Sammy Lee. That's all. There's a cigarette paper between them.
