Ummm, don't let your standard blanket stereotyping of "the left wing" in the labour party (the real "left wing" as opposed to the simplistic definition adopted by you )get in the way of reality. Most opposition to the EU and separate to that to the euro has come from the very left=wing of the party you suggest Brown won out against on that issue. Rather obviously I'm referring to the main left wing parties in the UK....ie the Labour party (the party that most people describing themselves as left wing still vote for) and the Liberal democrats. There have always been a few on the hard left who were anti the massive control freakery that is the EU....A rare commonality that they shared with most of the right. Of course there are always nay-sayers in every party as any successful one is always a board church. But it is churlish and pedantic to complain about a general description that is obviously an accurate representation of the left as a whole at that time. You moaning about this is like saying that because Kenneth Clarke and a small minority in the Tories were pro Euro that we can shouldn't describe the Tories as an anti Euro party of the time. You must be bored.
right wing of Tory Party/UKIP:"right wing" "left wing of Tory Party /Lib Dems/right wing of Labour Party.Pretty similar:centrists Left wing of Labour Party and left of that:"left wing"

Why do I get the feeling your actual deep down key issue is your dislike of immigrants because of ethnicity full stop, whether because of the EU or from prior waves of immigration in the past 50 completely unrelated to the EU.Must be my irrational, misguided "lefty/hippie" thought processes and should you want to bang on about it being completely unconnected to that but rather concerns about infrastructure etc, do look at total UK migration patterns. AS for "failed children",another of your diversions I fear from your real underlying antipathy,BBC News reported last November that: "The report (by academics at University College,London University)also showed that in 2011, 32% of recent EEA immigrants and 43% of non-EEA immigrants had university degrees, compared with 21% of the British adult population.". It's atypical.....If you complain about immigration some simplistic lefty commentator is going to eventually call you a racist. You nicely fit into the ideological stereotype mate, well done. I care about the culture I live in, this much is true. I don't like living in a melting pot of cultures..I think this is true for most people in most countries in the world. I'm working class....I've did well to make it to being a qualified teacher but I still remember where I came from and I know the struggles of those who need a home and job and are forced to compete with Eastern Europeans for resources their birth right should frankly provide them some priority to. I also accept that a proportion of immigrants into the country should be here for moral reasons....A certain number for genuine asylum for example. Anyway I'm too annoyed to carry this on.

Clearly I have hit a raw nerve. I did not use the word "racist" anywhere in my post.As for "ethnicity",purely as an example, no significant racial differences between many English and, say, many Polish people, but differing "ethnicity".You are a courteous and non-abusive poster and I respect you for that.I won't respond to anything else you post this evening so as not to annoy you further.Have a good evening,Stirling. It is has become the defacto response to any issue taken with the level of immigration the UK has had forced upon it: "you're waaacist".

It would be a lot easier if the real racists/Nazis just made themselves known so that you nice xenophobic chaps aren't tarred with the same brush.

I seem to remember you ended up supporting the SNP in the independence vote.....You were on the fence and then you chose them....Apologies if that is wrong. The SNP is well known to have lots of xenophobic supporters. I wouldn't dream of calling you xenophobic for supporting them....Because I know you from Hol......And many of their supporters just wanted a break from the old model.....Nothing to do with a dislike of the English.....just the system. Anyways, I wasn't thinking any particular individual but I do get so bored of this "you can't mention immigration without being branded a racist" - as it is a load of olde worlde bollocks. One can talk about immigration at anytime and, occasionally, the 'r' word may appear from a fractional minority. And sometimes they may call it correctly. But it's the over the top histrionics about it from certain elements from the right which leads me to believe they must be hiding something. Their real views.

Were many of the snp unmasked as being ex bnp or edl sympathisers? Another silly comment Nick? Next you're be saying Israel are staying in Gaza to....eh no....You already did that one. The suggestion that a proportion of SNP supporters aren't xenophobic towards the English is frankly absurd. It's been commented upon by many Scottish in Scotland.

Yeah....Should be water off a duck's back that.....Be offended and it's because you're probably a closet racist. Another left wing stereotypical response. You completely and utterly deserve UKIP. Edited by Stirlingsays (07 Feb 2015 8.48pm)

Bored of life, certainly not, especially after the win today! Bored of your stereotypcal perception of "right" and "left" most certainly. right wing of Tory Party/UKIP:"right wing" "left wing of Tory Party /Lib Dems/right wing of Labour Party.Pretty similar:centrists Left wing of Labour Party and left of that:"left wing" I wouldn't want you to close down your participation in the debate.....I was a bit miffed but it's probably a throw back to when I was unfairly temporarily red carded over a similar accusation. Lets just let the water flow under the bridge and get back to the knockabout/disagreements. Edited by Stirlingsays (07 Feb 2015 8.58pm)
