I can accept it. My point is that regardless of it all it was still misinformation. A word that you love using on "conspiracy theorists"

Those spreading conspiracy theories don't correct them asap!

They repeat and then double down on them.

I object to being called a liar.

The dispute I have with the government is completely unconnected to the Coronavirus pandemic and therefore has no place in this thread.

It is also not the business of anyone here. It's a private matter which was mentioned in the past in a completely different context.

I trust that's the last time this needs to be said.

Should we start a new thread?

Most conspiracy theories of the last 3 years came true.

The next conspiracy theory to come true is climate lockdowns....

Anyways I still don't see you saying that Joe Bidens statement was incorrect.

I have the same attitude toward all of them, in authority or tasked with knowing what is best for us, that you have toward Trump and Johnson. There is a reason why MPs aren't allowed to call one another liars.

The conventions on unparliamentary language seem to be evolving so calling someone a liar, in a nuanced way, now seems possible. It only applies in the HOC anyway. You can say it outside, although you take other risks there.

A degree of cynicism is both healthy and justified but not to the level of complete distrust. They have a job to do. They are accountable to those we elect to do it. That's the way it works. It's not a bed of roses.

Lies come in many forms with omission being only one.
I had meetings at work when I had to tell people they were doing a great job (which was variously true) without adding they were going to be made redundant in three months (which was definitely true).

Most? Only a conspiracy theorist would say something as daft as that.

It seems you cannot read either.

Then you too were being economical with the truth, rather than directly lying. It's sometimes necessary and sometimes imposed on you by those with authority over you.

Just terminology. I would call it a lie of ommission.

Not really. That's a stage further. Implying that something untrue is true, without actually saying it. Being economical with the truth doesn't imply anything. No doubt though that there are many borderline cases that could be argued over.

Whatever you call it I hated doing it and in due course it happened to me just as suddenly. The difference was that I was 57 and mortgage free so it worked out well in my case. Take the money and retire. Happy days.

In this case, it is clear that this was an unfortunate unscripted expression, perhaps caused by a genuine misunderstanding. Biden isn't a virologist. He was urging people to get the vaccine and certainly not putting them at a greater risk of harm.

You seem to have low expectations of people in power. In many careers where people's lives are put at risk, the financial rewards are greater, and so is expectation, of at least professional standards.
In Biden's case, it is obvious to see he's not capable of reasoned thought expression.
However, other well-qualified and well-remunerated people, including scientists and other politicians, have talked and acted with impunity with words and actions that have lead directly to people needlessly dying.

I disengage, I turn the page.
