EU "savings" negative billions of pounds per year.

An absurd assertion there were savings, hardly a surprise

Has anyone been able to put together a rough figure showing our net financial benefit before we left (what it cost us per year vs what we gained) vs after we left, eg. this year?

All I ever hear is chat about how much we're saving or how much we're losing out on now we're out. Never an actual estimation of before and after. Which is bizarre, because otherwise it's basically 'so what'

Might be saving money, might be losing it. Until you know what the comparison figure is it's a pointless discussion

My gut is short-term, we're worse off.

On that basis it would also be good to see a projection for both scenarios, in and out for the next 10 years.

Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons.

It’s a myth believed by those who see the EU as an overbearing master, when it’s actually a servant.

The member countries share common values and similar aspirations. Why then waste time and money by having 27 sets of organisations doing identical work to produce laws and regulations for uncontroversial issues?

The Brexiteers continually moan about the cost of the EU whilst no one mentions the savings it produces. How many more civil servants do we need now we have left? When we are short of labour we need those people creating wealth not producing laws.

Of course it requires some compromises but that’s just as true if we handle things ourselves.

What are the "common values and similar aspirations" that we share with Romania?

One of our best friends comes from Romania. I can assure you that their values and aspirations are identical to ours. They are hard working, honest and honarable.

That makes no assessment of the local costs we will now have to pay. I don’t think one has ever been attempted but logically they will far exceed what our contributions were.

That though is only a small part of the negative impact.

the only 'common values' that i can see is despising the EU and Brussels.

myself and my buddies have common values on what constitutes a good weekend. I doesn't mean we must be stitched together like Siamese twins.....just to go drinking in the pub & watch the football.

common values.....the EU is a bull, mortally wounded in La Mastraenza. Wandering about aimlessly and too stupid to recognise the feckin sword sticking out of its shoulders.

The EU will fall, fairly soon. And like the 370 AD fall of Western Rome, the countries not in the club did suffer less turbulence as a result. Scotland, Ireland, Denmark were all ok.....Italy & France were a s***show...especially because of the currency & laws.

based upon your deluded logic, we should also band together with Chile, Argentina & Christian Armenia....should all be banded together into the EU ?

i feel sorry for you

Why waste time & money moving everything about between Strasbourg, Brussels & Luxembourg?
