??? I wasn't saying we should feel sorry for him? Not wanting to come out and play = loss of form. By all accounts he's been working super hard to get back and fit. A break might do him good. Let's see how he goes after the first few games of next season.

He is the modern day version of Billys Boots. The problem is as he doesn’t feel his £6M a year is enough, he is enhancing it with a bright orange boot sponsor who give him another £100k a year. So although he has his magic boots in his locker he can’t afford to put them on. A problem Billy never encountered. Greed City. Modern day football.

I feel decent balls near him like the freekick against Arsenal is what is causing him and us problems, in the Barcelona game Liverpool practically failed to put any good crosses in for their forwards always over or under hitting them, the sole reason they failed in this game ..same goes for Spurs in their game (Rose is so over hyped) Early crosses for Benteke to feed on have been virtually zero.

I supported Bentenke for far longer than many, but he just seems to have completely lost the ability to shoot. I don't think he's useless but for the money he's on and the fact he has only one year left on his contract I think it's time to put the feelers out to China/Qatar/US to see if someone will pick up the tab. If we could get his wage off the books it would free us up to try and rebuild a new forward line.

As I've said get 5 million for him, and save a years salary 6 million, 11 million not bad, still big loss but frees up wages.
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

As soon as he makes 1 mistake then that is his game doomed.

We should give him away to save the wages but he's not going anywhere when he can hang around for a year , collect his money and be a free agent. HIs football skills have gone away but his financial smarts in good form. Zero incentive to move anywhere. As piss taking as it appears, and it is, no one forced us to give him a contract on the terms he has . Many other clubs have similar issues with over paid under/non performing players on contracts they have no chance of getting elsewhere so won't move. Originally posted by Lanzo-Ad

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Someone would probably pay 5m, but who's going to match his wages. I can see him staying next season then going somewhere on a free.

This is the issue.I cannot see any club matching his wages. Benteke himself might feel that it is in his best interests to go to another club in order to kickstart his career and in the circumstances be willing to take a drop in salary. This scenario could unfold if he was frozen out of the team.At present he is in the first team with no real competition, he is collecting his sizeable salary so perhaps no real incentive to go elsewhere.
