It is the language of defeatism! We are where we are and not where we might have been. Of course the battle was "avoidable" if we had taken another course. Pretty much every battle is the same, especially if you run away from them. We didn't take another course though. Whatever the reasons were for that is now irrelevant and bitching about it won't change anything. No-one is "allowing the country to be invaded"! There are very strict immigration controls in place that I can personally testify have markedly increased in complexity in recent years. Illegal immigration remains a challenging problem. Family member immigration is also a tricky area. So if the battle must be fought then we need to fight it and not just complain that we don't have the resources to win. We need to find modern weapons and use them with skill and patience. Sitting in the trenches moaning that the commanders don't have a clue what they are doing has been the province of the foot soldier since wars began. That's why they are foot soldiers and not commanders. You will forgive me if I don't appreciate lectures from the very same sort of thinkers who caused this whole problem in the first place. Your short sightedness knows no bounds and only a fool follows the orders of an idiot for very long.

We do already stop immigration that isn't necessary! If we stop free movement after Brexit then for sure less from Eastern Europe will arrive but I suspect that will mean that more from other places will, to replace them, and they are more likely to be Islamic than those from Europe. Asylum seekers from war zones will continue to arrive too. One problem is the family members of those already here. It's pretty much impossible to find legal ways to restrict such immigration. There already are requirements on people being able to speak English, both for their original entry visa, to be granted further leave to remain after 30 months, and an even tougher one after 5 years for the indefinite leave to remain, plus a "Life in the UK" test. These things exist, so why they aren't working and what we need to do to improve things are the real questions. I agree that no-one should get away with breaking any law, including using hate speech. Deportation is though not always an option because of the state of the countries involved. It's very easy to recommend it but much harder to actually accomplish. Where I agree is in the schools. We need to work with community leaders so that they can explain things. We need to train teachers from Islamic backgrounds but who have embraced western culture. If we concentrate on the girls first they will relish the freedoms it brings them and fight to hold onto them. Then the men will fall into line, so as to avoid losing their women. Just my ideas. Ah that old chestnut.......As for English lessons it maybe compulsory but it's not properly enforced. There was a case a couple of years ago where a taxi driver (in Nottingham I think) was accused of sexual assault on one of his passengers. When the case eventually came to court the judge asked why this particular case had been adjourned so many times? Apparently although the accused had lived in the UK for something like 18 years he'd never learnt to speak English & they had to find an Interpreter every time he appeared in court.

Imagine there's no heaven Like I said, if there were any justice in the world this guy would be moved into the middle of Savile Town and if he and they enjoyed it I'd be happy for both of them. Social liberals need to live right smack in the problems they create not nice homogeneous areas like Cornwall that were built up into rich areas way before their politics took control in the land.

They are now and they are rigorously enforced. You cannot get a legal visa without one. If something illegal is being done I don't know but it feels likely.

Imagine there's no heaven Pretty song but in actual fact I don't agree with too many of the sentiments, other than wanting all religions to whither and die. Your troll suggests I move to Savile Town. I am quite content where I am and perfectly able to judge things from here. When you stand away from a wall you generally can see more of it than just one brick. I have often wondered why the moaners and groaners don't move themselves. The countryside is lovely. I moved out of London years ago, simply because I could not afford to buy a property there. Pretty song but in actual fact I don't agree with too many of the sentiments, other than wanting all religions to whither and die. It won't wither and die until we remove the mechanisms that promote and perpetuate it. Instead, we are letting it spread in our largely secular country that took 500 years to achieve.

Where is this patience when it comes to Robinson and his supporters? Surely all you need to do is sit them down and give them a firm talking to and they’ll see you, of course, were right all along. My understanding is that with "Robinson" there was a serious attempt made at rehabilitation during his first time inside, which resulted in an apparent change of direction on his release. This though did not last for long. We can only speculate why. No doubt some will say that the situation outside was so serious it demanded his attention whilst others might think he was made aware of the money making opportunities which were now available to him. However, if you are warned that further transgressions will result in heavier punishments and ignore those warnings you cannot be surprised at the consequences.
