I'd imagine plenty of those voting Leave are doing so solely because of immigration, and have little or no understanding of the likely consequences, economic or otherwise. Certainly some I know. You could get the Queen, the Pope and Bob Geldof to swear that an Out vote would result in England sinking in to the sea, and they'd still just sniff, 'too many johnny foreigners, innit' and vote Out anyway.

Classic error: underestimating the intelligence of those who hold an opposing view. However, there is a tsunami of scum requiring removal that, sadly, not even Brexit will satisfactorily address.

Here's where I stand with one week to go, I'm still undecided btw. Leave: Immigration doesn't bother me. Nation states are (albeit hundreds of years old) a social construct with many national boundaries in a lot of cases being arbitrarily drawn up - post wwi, wwii and dissolution of the soviet union for example. People can be great or they can be tossers wherever they are from. What disturbs me most about the EU is the fact that although mep's have the power to vote for or veto laws / rules that an unelected commission decides, it's more than likely that the members of the commission are being swayed by big business and corporate lobbyists. This helps a neoliberal agenda along. But, if we do leave we are left with the likes of Gove (get control of our country back - he said this at least 25 times in question time tonight), Bj and IDS running the show. Some of the brexiters have admitted they will slash worker rights, which the EU does offer. What also makes me suspicious is the support for Brexit from many newspapers, whose owners don't even live here. Conversely if we stay it gives the EU the impression they can carry on as normal. If we stay, at least we have 'the devil we know'. There is a small chance that we may obtain change from within - although this to my mind though would need a left of centre government (bearing in mind the centre is further to the right than say 20 years ago) which given the negative, one-sided press we have in the Uk is going to be difficult to achieve.

I've got a feeling we shall be hearing from our friends in the EU before polling starts . Miniscule chance. One of 28 has no say. Several more nations ready to join and migrate to Britain. Cameron and the EU will be even more desperate. British people don't like being told what to do or fee being pressured and definitely not by Europeans, and European politician are even worse. 11/8 and shortening.

'Several more nations ready to join and migrate to Britain.' - The migrate to Britain is a result of the several nations about to join and is what I and many many people are thinking. Stig Abel on Sky News Press Preview has said exactly what I said in answer to your post about being told and being pressured when the remain camp has valid points about potential shocks to the economy but are making a shambles of their message.

I meant in the sense of the right wing nationalism happening across swathes of europe.

Merkel has some blame to take inviting all refugees to Germany via several countries along the way without any consultation. France has created its own problem with North African/African immigration and Islamic ghettos.

Apparently only 24% of immigration is from the EU... A bit different to what we are being told
