I spoke to a Councillor from Somerset this week, she is door knocking due to upcoming elections She said the farmers who voted leave have changed their minds. For all it’s inadequacies the CAP is now viewed as the better option than relying on UK politicians-especially Tories- to put in place suitable supports. They do indeed feel duped, realising this was a way simply to take back monies currently spent on support to agriculture. So the strategy of Remain is to delay Brexit long enough so that people become disillusioned and change their minds? Thanks for the confirmation.

I agree but you must separate opinion and fact. You cannot make off the cuff remarks and claim them as fact, they must be substantiated and referenced But that’s not your purpose. What you are saying is “I don’t agree with that. Prove it”. If you want evidence find it yourself. How many links do you provide? Or do you hold your own truths to be self evident?

What I do know is that 'Remain' and 'Leave' are not one giant hive mind that all think the same, therefore insinuating that delaying in order to change peoples minds is some kind of organised, coherent strategy is reaching a little. Also re. farmers, you can hardly blame them. I doubt they are as ideologically driven as you to continue to back something that will in fact ruin them, just out of principle. See most people. Just like the ERG, there is a dwindling hardcore of people who still give a s*** about this process. Everyone else is moving on. Or at least attempting to. Time to find the next thing to be bitter and resentful about...

I'm not saying that, I just dislike lazy retorts and throw away remarks to discredit a good debate where one has presented a credible article to support their argument Just accept its a goal for our side and try and find an equaliser Edited by Pussay Patrol (17 Apr 2019 10.34am)

It is in the nature of people to become dissatisfied with the existing circumstances. The difference is that we haven't even left the EU yet, so no one is in a position to judge the effects. Of course, some of us didn't just vote to line our own pockets and when have you ever heard a farmer happy about anything? Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (17 Apr 2019 10.51am)

Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (17 Apr 2019 10.51am) Fair point about farmers, but still, the point around not voting to cut your nose off to spite your own face still stands. The fact that we haven't even left the EU yet and it's this bad already, is exactly the reason why people are changing their minds. Not because of actual tangible effects as a result of leaving, but because of how badly it is being managed. Doesn't exactly instils confidence for the post exit process does it. Everyone is taking one look at this s*** show and coming to the only logical conclusion. This is still why I can't understand people ranging against the establishment one minute, then expecting them to seamlessly deliver for them the next. It boggles the brain. The two are completely incompatible.

Mix in a bit of chicken little, a tin hat, sandwich board and some bud, and we’re there. Again. For the 456 millionth time. I’m waiting for the post that attempts to link a palace result to the global financial crisis. Mr. Hang-up is off again.........

To me they are the natural constituents for the Remain camp. All that lovely free money they get versus the uncertainty of post Brexit funding. However they are just one part of our country albeit an important one.

Well obviously, its supporting local produce and ensuring a sustainable farming industry, unless you're in the camp of flooding the UK with cheap low quality produce and running our own industries into the ground? Taking back control equals passing more our wealth out of the country? Never ceases to amaze me the raft of negative things leavers knowingly voted for with no positive balancer

I doubt many would prefer to carry on under CAP, even tough it's been revised over the years, the subsidy system is deeply flawed and I'm not surprised farmers voted leave.
