A total side remark, for which please don't take offence because none is intended, but I cannot help but smile whenever you refer to your wife in that way. I am sure she is a lovely lady, who you clearly love a lot given the affection in your tone, but "dear"? Does she really cost so much? Do you have another wife you refer to as "cheap"? You naughty boy! No politics or opinions wissie. I'm impressed

My criticism of PHE, the NHS and the politicians is restricted to January / February. According to the WHO we did not have a contingency plan for a pandemic, that should have been in place already and would cost very little (just to create the plan). In the early part of the year once it became obvious the virus was coming our way that plan should have been dusted off and updated. At that point we should have started spending real money on equipment and training. We are now playing catch up and from my perceptive the NHS is not good at implementing change fast let's hope I am wrong. Before anyone jumps down my throat this is not said because of my political views but do you think this was, partly at least, because we had a very new government? Some ministers were getting used to new departments, there was upset within the civil service because of Dominic Cummings war on them being emboldened by a large Tory majority, and there was a vacuum where there ought to have been an opposition. Everybody's eyes were off the ball. Brexit was about to be "done" and we were all drawing breath.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

I have flown PIA from Heathrow many years ago - I believe it was on a 707. I have flown PIA on a Trident on an internal flight. I've heard PIA referred to jokingly as standing for "Perhaps I'll arrive' Who can forget SABENA or Such A Bad Experience Never Again.

Flew Karachi to Kuala Lumpar business class with Malaysian, absolutely fantastic. Thai International economy was good as well

Been reading through this thread and to be honest has lightened my day, I’m lucky.... I work as manager of betting shop (non essential so closed) but I’m on full pay, but sitting here with my wife and kids seeing my wife worry about all this is not nice.
“This is a crisis, a large crisis.... in fact if you have a moment, it’s a 12 storey crisis, magnificent entrance hall, carpeting throughout, 24 hour portage , and an enormous sign on the roof saying “This , is a large crisis” - Edmund Blackadder |

I could assert that I refer to her as "Dear" as she used to charge a lot but I will refrain from gallivanting down that alley! In actual fact I have no "I Dear" if she ever operated down an "Alley" !! Finally, indeed I used to be a "Naughty boy", but my lothario days are long gone.

I've just been out for a walk with the dog. We have been in lock down maybe a week or two (who can count the time anymore). The place has been quiet, today its frankly busy. Traffic jams, queues, teens playing football and basketball. Families out walking. Conclusion: people are starting to not stick to the lock down. Whatever the government wants to do about it may not be in their own hands.

The Government is very concerned that with the weather being in our favour at the weekend, this will encourage those to ignore what was once 'Advice' but is now an 'Instruction'.Police of course have been given additional powers and they might to use them to the full. The Business Class lounge at Doha airport was very impressive indeed, both in terms of the size and comfort but also with regard to the culinary delights and the customer service.
