It wasn't though "the religion of peace in full swing" was it? It was a homophone in full swing who drew her reasoning from her interpretation of a religion. Many people, from many religions, are homophobic. We are gradually winning the battle of ideas with many of them. Clearly not yet all though. That it seems there is further to go with certain interpretations of Islam, and certain cultural groupings who are of Islamic origins, doesn't mean you give up the battle of ideas. It means you must redouble the efforts, remain patient and gradually allow the sense of western values to penetrate the shell of intolerance. Defeatism combined with no alternative strategy is no answer. Moans and groans get us nowhere at all. This is one of the most naive statements I have seen. Have you learned nothing in your 75 years?

Some immigrants integrated. Many didn't. Some second and third generation immigrants don't even speak English. With the current obsession over the pointless Brexit dominating politics many other critical priorities are being left in the long grass. We need to bury Brexit and then reset our priorities. Climate change is one but countering Islamic fundamentalism is certainly another. People are not born fundamentalist. They are just people. It's only the environment in which they develop which produces fundamentalism. We clearly cannot remove all babies born within Islamic families for "re-education". The Chinese might, but not us. We need to be more subtle, but still very determined and forthright. My answer is to ensure that religious teaching is removed from every school. I am not a teacher but my understanding is that the schools these days do teach British values and the benefits of diversity and tolerance. Such things are vitally important in areas where kids come from homes and communities where other values may be common and programmes need to be ramped up in such areas with appropriate resources directed to them. We need to open minds and encourage challenge, so that as the generations change so the level of intolerance goes on the down slope. It will take time, but it can be done. If you have other ideas then let's hear them. Just identifying problems is not an answer.

If you have other ideas then let's hear them. Just identifying problems is not an answer. My first answer would be to halt inward immigration unless strictly necessary. As for integration, what I would do is make services available for only those who have or who are making an effort to integrate. I would have compulsory English lessons and other suitable lessons to promote western culture for those wanting the benefits of the country. Those who don't attend don't get the benefits. I would make all children's education secular and ban all trappings of religion from education and public buildings and office - a bit like French laicite. Those are just some suggestions.

We do already stop immigration that isn't necessary! If we stop free movement after Brexit then for sure less from Eastern Europe will arrive but I suspect that will mean that more from other places will, to replace them, and they are more likely to be Islamic than those from Europe. Asylum seekers from war zones will continue to arrive too. One problem is the family members of those already here. It's pretty much impossible to find legal ways to restrict such immigration. There already are requirements on people being able to speak English, both for their original entry visa, to be granted further leave to remain after 30 months, and an even tougher one after 5 years for the indefinite leave to remain, plus a "Life in the UK" test. These things exist, so why they aren't working and what we need to do to improve things are the real questions. I agree that no-one should get away with breaking any law, including using hate speech. Deportation is though not always an option because of the state of the countries involved. It's very easy to recommend it but much harder to actually accomplish. Where I agree is in the schools. We need to work with community leaders so that they can explain things. We need to train teachers from Islamic backgrounds but who have embraced western culture. If we concentrate on the girls first they will relish the freedoms it brings them and fight to hold onto them. Then the men will fall into line, so as to avoid losing their women. Just my ideas.

This is one of the most naive statements I have seen. Have you learned nothing in your 75 years? I have learned a great deal. Probably the most important is to be patient. Another is to be firm with your ideas and show resolution. Success is always just another attempt after a series of failures. You only really fail when you stop trying. One of the most important lessons I learned at school was to be confident in my own analytical ability. We were given a tricky maths homework and before submitting my group of friends compared our answers. They all had exactly the same, except for me. I came under intense pressure to change and considerable ridicule for being wrong. Except, of course, I wasn't. Now I won't always be right of course, but I am unafraid of taking the alternative view to the majority if I really believe in something. So it's far from naive. It's just determined. Your's, in contrast, is the language of failure and defeat.

This battle was avoidable and it's not as if we haven't had plenty of experience with the folly of religious zealotry. That isn't detirmination. That is delusion.

Just googled this 'NPC' nonsense. Hahahaha, f*cking hell. You lot are actual man children. The guy who writes out 'Hahahaha' wants to call others 'man children'. Go back to your soy latte.

This battle was avoidable and it's not as if we haven't had plenty of experience with the folly of religious zealotry. That isn't detirmination. That is delusion. It is the language of defeatism! We are where we are and not where we might have been. Of course the battle was "avoidable" if we had taken another course. Pretty much every battle is the same, especially if you run away from them. We didn't take another course though. Whatever the reasons were for that is now irrelevant and bitching about it won't change anything. No-one is "allowing the country to be invaded"! There are very strict immigration controls in place that I can personally testify have markedly increased in complexity in recent years. Illegal immigration remains a challenging problem. Family member immigration is also a tricky area. So if the battle must be fought then we need to fight it and not just complain that we don't have the resources to win. We need to find modern weapons and use them with skill and patience. Sitting in the trenches moaning that the commanders don't have a clue what they are doing has been the province of the foot soldier since wars began. That's why they are foot soldiers and not commanders.

Some immigrants integrated. Many didn't. Some second and third generation immigrants don't even speak English. how much hatecrime against Gay people ? what proportion of Christian/atheist men in the UK have a muslim wife/girlfriend ? and what proportion of Islamic women have a boyfriend/husband from Christian/Atheist stock ? what proportion of islamic mothers are imported into the uk to get married and do not learn English or associate with English people ? what proportion of these families are longterm on the dole ? and what proportion are taxpaying and gainfully employed ? what was the demographic of all the Rape gangs ? or all the terrorism in the UK ? maybe you dislike Tommy, but the rise of a Tommy was not really a surprise, now was it ? From Thatcher to Theresa May...they can all hang their lazy heads in shame. Telford/Rotherham/Rochdale etc has caused the rise of a Tommy. And even if he dies in prison, another will rise to replace him. Edited by PalazioVecchio (29 Jul 2019 1.48pm)

Surely all you need to do is sit them down and give them a firm talking to and they’ll see you, of course, were right all along.
