I am being honest. Farage is a charlatan. People have demonstrated against his xenophobic party as is their democratic right. Are you saying they shouldn't be allowed?

If it results in him being unable exercise his free speech then yes.

These aren't reasonable people turning up here, these people are arseholes.

Yet more proof that socialists will do absolutely everything they can to stop anyone else having a voice.

Everything except get a job and go to work of course...

How have you come to this conclusion?
You do write some absolute bollocks don't you?

C'mon nick, you know everyone who goes on a demo is an unemployed soap-dodger living in a squat and on benefits don't you?

And to think the right accuse US of pandering to stereotypes...

It would have been better if you and nick had decried the mobrule antics of TUSC Seth, rather than getting indignant about stereotyping!

Free speech and all that mate.... fairs fair.

Yes free speech to demonstrate against ukip

A demonstration is one thing, stopping free speech is another.

The police deemed the situation unsafe and so they are guilty of the latter.

I will assume that's a tongue in cheek response nick.

Otherwise you're advocating the Nazi brown shirt style of political debate seen in the 1930's.

I was more concerned by the bad spelling on their placards.

Still can't bring yourself to say it's wrong eh?

Farage should man up and face them.

You've had too many spats with Matt_Himself and have lost the ability to be honest with yourself mate.

I am being honest. Farage is a charlatan. People have demonstrated against his xenophobic party as is their democratic right. Are you saying they shouldn't be allowed?

"They" shouldn't be allowed to stop him from expressing his democratic rights though.

As I pointed out earlier on, the TUSC were behaving in a similar fashion to the Nazi brown shirts in Berlin in the 1930's.

Perhaps you think that is acceptable and will not complain when the TUSC do the same to all parties they oppose (including the greens and other flakeys) and then up their game to violence, burning down buildings and then murder?

Or perhaps they were acting like those who demonstrated against Oswald Mosley and his blackshirts.

Mosley was allowed to speak in a public forum. He wasn't prevented from leaving his party HQ by thugs.

I can't help reading that in a dalek voice. Over and over again...

Only in respect to anti EU......Without UKIP none of the main parties would actually be addressing immigration or EU issues at all.

Many against UKIP would like nothing better than to close down the debate and ignore the voices of many working and middle class people.....Just because it doesn't reflect their own.

UKIP started out as an anti eu party. It's founder (can't member his name) recently said that Farage has come in and steered the party in a more xenophobic / closet racist direction making it nothing like the party that was initially formed.

A bit like Blair did with labour moving them away from being a party for the working class.

I agree that UKIP have sacrificed intellectual principles for popularity. Like any other party it is an internal coalition. I support the intellectual, anti-elite, classical conservative side (personified by Carswell). I dislike the populist anti-immigrant side (Patrick O'Flynn),

Picking Immigration as an issue is playing with fire and will see UKIP end up burnt.

Can't say I agree with that.

Any party that is anti high immigration is going to attract its share of closets or whatever when it becomes successful......If you are anti or pro something you're going to attract people who are even more anti or pro something and who actually don't really fit in with the message....It doesn't mean they represent your mainstream.

It's no different to what happened to Labour with the militant and socialist wing in the seventies.

Success breeds identification with a larger demographic.

Ukip have made it clear that they don't believe or support racism or xenophobia and have kicked out or suspended plenty of activists.

They rightly have ethnic members and candidates and even their leader has a foreign wife.....None of this makes any difference of course...All ignored as inconvenient truths.

Their enemies seek to demonize and associate or sometimes misrepresent...regardless of fairness....any silly statement anyone associated with Ukip makes....Suggesting that anyone statement is somehow the 'reality' or 'motive' behind the whole party.

It's not balanced and it's the same 'Daily Mail' tactics that they claim to hate.

But not when it's against their targets.

Not if you're working class and living in East Anglia it won't.

Not if you're working class and living in East Anglia it won't.

The problem with legitimate concerns about immigration (eg, who controls borders and issues passports, London or Brussels?) is they inevitably get tangled up with ignorant and racist movements (eg, PEGIDA).

It's difficult enough to raise the former without encouraging the latter. If you start mixing the two to chase votes (which I think UKIP is guilty of) you're asking for trouble.
