Nice write up in the athletic which is worth a read. Clearly Parish or someone close has leaked it to get across our side. It is frustrating, but we cannot be held or ransom by ppl, that’s what got this club into trouble in the first place. I say fair play Parish, hold your ground, we go again with the next candidate. I think I agree with you. And on that point...of the two Championship suggestions, I’d rather Ismael than Cooper. I think he is definitely one for the future.

Whether you were Roy out or Roy in, Roy made that call himself so this was going to happen regardless. So it's not really got anything to do what what one section of the Palace fanbase wanted Did he? Do we know that or have I missed something somewhere? there would have been informal chats between Steve and Roy sounding each other out about a contract extension. Many managers have lost their jobs due to fan pressure and this influencing either consciously or sub-consciously club owners. I don't see why we would be any different.

He wanted more than we could give him. I think he's (Santo) playing for Everton or a club with more potential than Palace. SO he put he demands higher than Parish could afford!! I just hope we dont go for Cooper... thanks. sometimes you have to walk away. i'm sure the agent made demands about taking on his players, rather than what may have been what was best for the club. i don't want any part of cooper, either. surely you can tempt supporters with nuno but then slip a manager like cooper through the door.

I go back to what I said the first time we were linked with Nuno - his apparent interest in Palace was worth pursuing but also deeply suspicious. I just could not understand why he would take a step backwards in his career like that. Best guesses ranged from wanting to live in London, to an emotional reaction to the fallout with Wolves. Neither are good reasons to take the Palace job, and the cold hard reality of running our club would have presented itself soon enough. Palace and big names in their prime just do not mix. Never have. Whether it's players or managers we mostly just get the thin end of those deals, with blokes thinking they are doing us a favour, or correctly guessing that we are so desperate for what they can do that we never stop to ask why they want to come here at all. Most of these people just want to be a big fish in a small pond, partly for their own ego, but mostly for an easy life. We need a grafter, someone who needs to succeed here, someone for whom this is a step up they will be grateful for and energised by. If that is Cooper then fine, let him get stuck in.

If it hadn't been for their bust-up, I would say Tony Pulis. 'We have massively over-performed'.

As I posted yesterday I'd little confidence in the whole thing and thought Steve Parish / The Yanks / Dougie Freedman / Mark Bright / our budget etc and Nuno and Super Agent Mendes were a match made in hell. The real surprise to me was how far negotiations had apparently got.

not in the slightest bit annoyed at not getting nuno…he wouldnt have been an upgrade on roy, yes he got the better of us during our encounters but had much better weapons at his disposal…hardly a suprise. also played very similar safety 1st football as roy so im suprised people wanted him in the 1st place. i think, where we are now…i would be happy with cooper given the need to use & nurture the academy. would only be happy with frank if there was also a specific defensive coach involved, cahill maybe?

He hardly set the world alight in his European coaching career and took the Wolves job when they were in the Championship leaving them when they were one place and one point above us

Prior to that he managed Valencia and Porto. I'd say we are a notable step down from all that.
