Calvert Lewin from Everton is already 23 but he did have 11 contributions sonce 21 too. The players Palace got or is interested in are not going to rock the PL like Zaha does. They need time. Sure, it's a great window if Zaha stays. But if he goes....and Benrahma or someone else doesn't come? Eze contributed to more than 8 only in his last year in the Championship. He played 40.000 minutes in the Championship last season to do this. I doubt he will play more than 20.000 in his first year here in the PL. Brewster scored 10 goals in the Championship in what is his best season yet.

How can this bafffle? They may be good players for their age, but none will have a 1st season in the PL offering as much as Zaha offers. I spoke in the context that the only transfers left would be Zaha out and Brewster (or Osay Samuel) in. Last season we were just 1 step away from relegation. Worst scoring team in the league. We are definitely relegation candidates with about 9 other teams (for 3 places) even if Zaha stays. With Zaha gone, we are frontrunners. Zaha contributes to 10-20 goals per season (depending on his season). A 21 year old will contribute to 2-10 goals and given that this is what they did in the Championship, I wouldn't expect more from Eze or Brewster in the top league. We need to be patient with them. But also,if Zaha were to go, he should be replaced by someone at his level. We finished 14th... for me that would say we were 4 steps away from relegation. Also, we had nothing to play for when the season restarted so the ageing squad relaxed on the beach for the last 7/8 games. Good for them, they earned that right as for the first 30 games they did enough to not get relegated. I agree, not so much importance should be placed on Eze (and potentially Brewster) just yet as they may take time to adjust to the Prem. You said we need to replace Zaha with someone of his quality, who would you suggest? And some random bloke from Romania's 4th league won't be Zaha's quality just yet, maybe in Football Manager or FIFA but not in the real world.

It was widely reported and then re-reported by a whole host of online news outlets. But this Benrhama chase hasn’t even be tipped as a possible target for us. Only Leeds and Villa seem to be the teams reportedly having most interest since the Chelsea interest ended of course.

Zaha only assisted 3 times last season. If Eze doesn’t do better than that I will be very surprised. Let’s see hey. Just to add to that, I don’t think we nearly got relegated last season. I think last season was the first season that we never looked like getting relegated...all while being the 2nd lowest scorers and our star player not wanting to be there. Credit must go to Roy and the squad for how organised we managed to stay. After we beat Bournemouth we were safe and then we had a rough run in and didn’t do so well. Liverpool won the league and their form dropped as well. It happens to the best of teams. Edited by Hudsoneagle (09 Sep 2020 2.58pm)
