The BBC's North America editor Jon Sopel is quite openly anti-Trump on Twitter, which is always a good place to go to check a journalist's bias. In his latest anti-Trump piece on the BBC, he tells us – because he is the neutral observer on the ground – that Trump's rhetoric is to blame for the recent mass shootings. That really is outrageous. Like this never happened under previous administrations. One of the biggest problems is actually the US media in whipping up the population and there are countless examples of lies and hatred from CNN and MSNBC alone each week. Yet in his piece, Sopel fails to admit this at all. Sopel also defends the actions of George Soros, which if there was any doubt, shows which side of the fence he is on. He also fails to mention Democrat leaders openly telling its supporters to go out and abuse Republicans in restaurants and gas stations as part of "the 'resistance". Yet it's Trump's fault for America apparently being more divided than ever. Edited by Penge Eagle (29 Oct 2018 10.53am)

The hypocrisy, omission and myopic nature of the reporting is tantamount to lying.

This whole narrative of the press being 'the enemy of the people' which is being pushed, and is working, both sides of the pond is really quite scary.

The fact that people are more outraged by some reporting and 'lying' rather than the barefaced bullsh*t that comes out his actual mouth on a daily basis is pretty nuts to me. The whole 'fake news' line that he's continually spun is genius in that it automatically discredits a lot of what your supporters hear and see your critics saying. You honestly don't think Trump's words had any effect in the bombs in the post and the anti-semitic shooting in the last week? It's disingenuous to say it's completely because of it, but it is certainly a factor in what drives people to do these things.

Well I have given evidence of numerous fake news on this thread and he is right to push back on the media that make up stories about him. We all know that Trump is not impartial but the media is supposed to be. That's the big difference. I've lived in the US and watched the irresponsible rhetoric from the cable news channels which does not compare to anything said by Trump. CNN anchor Don Lemon recently describing Kanye West's visit to the White House as a "minstrel show" and CNN commentator Bakari Sellers saying: "Kanye West is what happens when Negroes don’t read" then Tara Setmayer adding "He’s the token Negro of the Trump administration". Do you think helps bridge the racial divide? Trump is pro Israel and his daughter Ivanka is a converted Orthadox Jew. So what rhetoric by Trump would the guy who shot up a synagogue be following? When a Bernie Sanders supporter shot Republican Congressman Steve Scalise last year – was that because of rhetoric from either of those parties? I'm not a Bernie fan at all but to blame him for this nutter would be ridiculous. Edited by Penge Eagle (29 Oct 2018 12.36pm)

The Democrats have proven themselves as actually worse in opposition than the republican tea party were during Obama and you have the bare faced cheek to write this?.....They actually advocate harassment and unrest. Their supporters make uncountable death threats online...which the lefty silicon valley don't ban ..(not that I generally support banning but I wish to highlight the hypocrisy)...these threats are made both at Trump and republicans generally. Hell, the left make numerous so called 'hate' speech comments against whites...all language that has been encouraged by the 'oppresser' narrative that the democrats constantly push. As for your linking Trump's words to nutter violence.....??? Seriously....We had a 'Bernie Bro' actually shoot a Republican politician last year....Where are your comments criticizing all the Democrats with their aggressive anti republican language? We have antifa regularly and illegally attacking people in the street over political views....regularly even getting that wrong....Where are your comments criticizing all the Democrats for their silence on this....Hell, even CNN make excuses for it. As for blaming Trump for an anti semite murdering people??? Are you smoking weed or something? How more pro Israel can Trump be for crying out loud....this murderer called Trump a 'globalist' and was no fan and you blame Trump. Edited by Stirlingsays (29 Oct 2018 7.05pm)

And if Obama had been in power you would have said that a Black man in the White House was the cause. Wake up man. The US is divided by all kinds of tribalism. It never ends.

I think it's possible that the US could be heading for a split based upon racial lines.....at some point within a generation. You'll have black, white and mixed states. The unifying figures in public life don't really exist now and the fault lines are probably too deep to rectify. The identity politics game from post modernism was a disaster to start but now it's out of the bottle...
