Could do with someone that might hang about for a bit. Our players have been bossed about by a load of different men, more than Kerry Katonas kids.

Interesting piece that. Especially the bit about the past few managers feeling like they're 'doing Palace a favour'. Not a lot in that article to disagree with in my opinion. Dyche might not be a glamorous name but from the minute Allardyce left I thought he'd be a good fit for us. A younger Allardyce in some ways with a lot to prove. I had a feeling the board would go all out to get him and it looks as though that could be true. I think if he comes we all might just like it a little more than we think we will

I would be a tad surprised if we didn't approach Burnley for Dyche.

If we were in the Championship and wanted a manager to get us promoted that would be a good CV. If we were newly promoted and looking only to survive it might not be too bad. But I would hope we're looking for a manager to build on what we have achieved these past few seasons and establish ourselves as a top half team. A manager that can get the best out of out of top players like Wilf. Nothing on Dyche's CV suggest he's a man to do that. Originally posted by NickinOX
Some context might be nice. Two promotions from the Championship is good. PL First season: 33 points and GD of -25. Relegated In his first season in the PL his team had virtually no money to spend and lowest wage bill in the division (according to the Guardian). Yet they still had a chance to stay up until the last game of the season. Despite again having one of the smallest budgets in the division, Dyche kept his team up this year. Whether that makes him the right person is one thing, but lets not criticize his record without some context.

the fact he's trying to engineer his way out of Burnley doesn't suggest loyalty is one of his attributes. Originally posted by Casual

The other night in my 'Local' I had a discussion with someone about whom I would like to replace Allardyce. We discussed a number of names and whilst I could find 'Positives' for most,I found certain 'Negatives' for each and very one. Couldn't put a 'Tick' in each and every box and this might be the same as far as Parish is concerned.Allardyce was an easy decision but not so easy this time - good luck Steve !

If we get a manager who is successful then we lose him

Dyche has been at Burnley for 5 years. That's showing a tad more loyalty than our more successful managers don't you think?

First choice would be pellegrino but I think Dyche has done very well with Burnley. He has turned turf moor into a fortress with very minimal resources. Recruited well and improved most of the squad all that team under him have improved - look at Keane and Heaton now top quality english players. I think we have the chance to take a young progressive english manager who is improving year on year. Whats not to like.
