One fit striker, the season is under 2 and half weeks to go. Campbell looks to be out a month(blessing). Why haven't we been proactive in the market? Surely it proves in previous years where we waited in the market and ended up with adebayor and Bamford. We've only spent £13million on Townsend, £3 or 4 Million on Tomkins, signed Mandanda and submitted substantial bids for Batshuayi, Benteke, Berahino (plus the Benteke bid may well bear fruit). We have also sold Gayle for a very decent profit. Once we get a striker in (I'm confident of this; Benteke or otherwise) you wouldn't be able to deny that this window has been a success. Currently, it's up in the air. I'd be pissed if we start the season with only Wickham fit, but I don't THINK that will happen.

A current England international, France's no 2 goalkeeper and a very highly regarded English centre half from a very good Premier League side.

I not denying I'm happy with players we've bought in,however we have weakened the striker department. There is the main problem. Look throughout the prem other than hull city, we have the worst strength in depth up front.

Seems to me like the window has been good for us. If McCarthy goes to Southampton, we get Benteke plus one other "fox in the box" then all is good. If we don't get Benteke then we will get someone else. I am not even that worried about the West Brom match. We have Wickham and if I was Tony Pulis, I wouldn't want to sell Berahino to us until after that match anyway. It just feels like there is a plan coming together - We are going after, and getting some of the players we want. We are not losing out to Fulham, Middlesborough, Hull etc. etc. We are getting beaten to signatures by Chelsea etc. It feels like we are moving up in the world and that we are stil trying to punch above our weight. Personally I am quite upbeat about the fact that SP & AP are not coming out every five minutes talking about this potential and that potential. It is how it should be.

Even if we get Benteke it's not enough look at last seasons squad compared to this season we are even smaller it relly is not enough.

Hopefully it will be open a little longer in January. Dear oh dear.

We have got rid of Gayle, Adebayor & Chamakh up front; Mariappa, Hangeland & P. McCarthy at the back and Kettings in goal. We have picked up Mandanda in place of Kettings, Tomkins in place of P. McCarthy and Townsend in place of Chamakh. So if we replace Gayle & Adebayor with Berahino and Benteke; and Mariappa and Hangeland with a couple of defenders then we will have traded up?

Someone on the BBS said Benteke has not been taking part in any off their games in America. could be a good sign.
