What was this today in the news about Gove and BJ saying that an exit would require 30-60bn in cuts. I thought that it was established that the UK would be 'massively' better off without contributing to the EU. I only caught it briefly, does anyone have any further details, because to me that sounds like the opposite of being better off, if we have to make large scale cuts in public services. Especially as one of the classic leave arguments deals with the 'pressure of EU workers on public services' Dunno bout Gove and Bj, but Osborne said he'd step up austerity if we left.

He was talking about an emergency budget, with immediate tax rises. Given there are 2 years to negotiate the exit after a leave vote, that sounds like sh1te! Of course, if we leave, Cameron and Osborne will both be gone shortly after anyway so it won't be his problem

This is worth 5 minutes of your time. Nothing sums up the utter state of this referendum than what is going on on the Thames right now.

As a Tory voter and former member, I have gone from being pretty damn angry at the campaign being run by Cameron/Osborne to revoking my membership. Osborne is a fcking cnt. His threat today is an absolute joke. Alternative budget if we Leave? George, I hate to break it to you, you thick fck, you will not be chancellor if we vote to leave. You shouldn't be fcking chancellor anyway. Even if you are chancellor there's absolutely zero chance of you getting such a budget through parliament. I will never, ever, ever again vote for a party that has him on the front bench.

Although I don't think its a situation where it wouldn't necessarily be true. I think the UK will take a knock economically due to panic on the exchange etc and that could result in a need to raise taxation at least in the short term. But I also expect the Government to represent the people, in such matters, not dictate to them. I think its pretty clear that there will be changes if we leave the EU. It was interesting to see Conservative MPs immediately threaten to rebel to prevent the chancellor pushing through a punishment budget. Its also of course noteworthy, that the economic wobble of a leave vote, will likely be long gone by the time the UK actually leaves anyhow (about 2 years after the referendum).

I keep hearing about EU reform in the context of what we should be trying to achieve by remaining. But is it a myth?
