Sean Dyche Premier League record below…….less than a point a game. Shocking defensive record. He will relegate us.

Matches 76
Wins 18
Draws 19
Losses 39
Goals For 67
Goals Against 108

Some context might be nice. Two promotions from the Championship is good.

PL First season: 33 points and GD of -25. Relegated
PL Second season: 40 points and GD of -16. Stayed up.

In his first season in the PL his team had virtually no money to spend and lowest wage bill in the division (according to the Guardian). Yet they still had a chance to stay up until the last game of the season.

Despite again having one of the smallest budgets in the division, Dyche kept his team up this year.

Whether that makes him the right person is one thing, but lets not criticize his record without some context.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Fair points, but would you see the manager of a Londis as the obvious choice to manage a Sainsbury's Superstore, no matter how well he may have done it?

When SP talks about a long term appointment, he means he is looking for a manager that has a long term vision, and timeframe, for the club that fits with the vision of the board. i.e. Yearly targets to get us to where we want to be.

Of course the next manager might not succeed and get sacked or resign for whatever reason and not achieve his long term vision.

By continued success I mean challenging for top six, Europe, winning cups and trophies etc. Not managing to avoid relegation.

this is not Palace and people that think it is in a dream world.

top 10 is realistic and cup runs are difficult it invloves taking a hit in the league unless you are one of the big boys who have 25 top quality players which Palace will not have.

SP and this long term maanger thing is strange one managers do not stay long term anymore because the business has changed you need results quickly plus his planning thinking of the future is very poor need to do things now palace in so many departments are so far behind because he's clearly thinking to much about far future and not looking at bigger picture spend money to make money.

Top quality managers wouldn't ever come here the training and academy is a joke it has not changed for years (changing layout or some new plastic boards plus paint doesn't count)

My brother, was told by his workmate whose ex-wife was a very, very close friend of the bebab shop owner, that the kebab shop owner's son,who is an electrical appliance repair man,was called out to repair SP's neighbours washing machine, and so she was forced to use the local launderette.Just goes to show.

I wasn't talking about Palace mate. If you look at the context I was talking about the only way to get a *long term* manager is too have that kind of success.

Alan Smith reckons Sean Dyche would do a good job at Palace. He makes a good case which I would go along with

His claim that Allardyce wasn't the right fit for us makes me doubt his opinion... Allardyce was the perfect fit in my opinion, and I don't think anyone else would get more points out of the kind of squad we have.

Seems to me that any speculation about a future manager is no more than wishful thinking, personal opinions or in the most part (and I include the media on this) wild guess work. SP will come up with whoever and good, bad or indifferent we will not know until its announced.

It may be someone on Skybet but it is as likely o be someone else entirely. BUT in SP I trust!

Surely the fact that SA has resigned after 5 months suggests he has a point?

Anyway I thought this particular line has nailed it for me.

"There's been a tendency in the past for a few managers who think they've done Palace a favour. And I think he will strive to make sure that he can make that step up. Some almost see it as a step down or a stepping stone on to bigger things.

Good old Smithy...was this interview conducted at the Dukes Head in Wallington after his 6th pint?
b]“I’d forgotten he had a trial with us,” Smith added. “He reminded me about that last week at an LMA event. At that time there was so many people coming in and going out of the club. I remember we made the mistake of not taking him on at the time.”

Following Palace since 25 Feb 1978
