The idea of getting a "long term" manager seems a pretty meaningless term to me. The only way to guarantee that someone stays is to enjoy continued success. Contracts mean little to football players and managers who will always jump ship if the grass is greener. The only people in it for the long term are us the fans.

Sean Dyche Premier League record below…….less than a point a game. Shocking defensive record. He will relegate us.

And this is with Heaton and Keane, who are highly rated and the backbone of his defence.

I knew there was a reason I didn't want him!
Cynic or realist? It's a fine line! |

It's a results business and any manager can easily get the boot. Let's look at our recent Prem history, Ollie fell on his sword, Warnock was on a hiding to nothing and Pards was given a stay of execution due to his Palace history. Pulis and Sam walked away for various reasons, one mired the other not so. SP is being honest here, saying there will be no Pards Mark 2 but a conservative appointment, who can fully understand where the club is, players playing to their already strengths than trying something different, appreciative of budget constraints and has a good knowledge of the Prem. In relation to "long term" I don't think any owner can appoint that type of manager as it is in the lap of the footballing Gods. Interestingly his "stepping stone" comments seem to run contrary to Dyche's position at the moment, in relation to Burnley. Edited by Booted Eagle (02 Jun 2017 3.12pm)

I'm in no way decided that Dyche is a good fit but I think percentages and totals over a long term with a club like Burnley are a bit redundant. Did he get them up? Yes. Did he get them relegated? Yes. He also then brought them back up immediately and kept them there. If you base it on the last 2 seasons you can say he got them promoted and then safely mid-table. With a far worse team than Palace on paper of course.
