It's quite a lot of things if you include all the pic players. And another thing. I may have missed it, but has Frank actually been ruled out?
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

The whole situation seems very odd. It seems to be well-known that Nuno has a large entourage, so unless he's added a butcher, a baker, and a candlestick maker at the last minute then I can't believe that would be an issue now if it wasn't one when we made our move (if indeed we did). If it's true that he was due to sign and if it's true that it's collapsed at the eleventh hour then I would hazard a guess that Everton or someone else has panicked and made him an offer. Personally I think he is by far the best candidate of those supposedly in the running - organises defences well and likes wide players who take players on, which is basically the one thing we have always loved. If this has fallen through I wonder if Parish will be looking elsewhere outside of the bookies favourites. Edited by taylors lovechild (09 Jun 2021 12.51pm) Indeed, Clubs talk to the managers agents first Is he interested?, what salary? Sorry but we have a clubs structure so he can only bring one coach, is that a problem? These are basic things I can't believe we didn't have an idea of his demands before we open negotiations. Maybe it was Nuno who got cold feet. Anyway Cooper seems to be the only one that actually wants the job.

I guess that means it’ll be some time before we get a new manager. Might be prudent to get Dougie to sign off pending deals for out of contract players we are keen to keep rather than wait for the new guy. We’ve got Benteke signed up. Who would be our next priority?

You have to believe that SP has some non-negotiables for the benefit of the club. As much as Nuno was exciting, is he fitting the atmoshpere and perhaps as talks deepened, demands crossed into what is in the non-negotiables range. Perhaps this is being used to force Everton's hand. Either way, Good Luck NES you may be the best we never had, but bring on the next guy who will fit our club culture and buy into the "Family" (Still wish it was SD though)

I can’t see players wanting to sign for a club without knowing who the manager is. The new manager may not even want them or be prepared to play them. If I were any of the out of contract players and I had another offer I would be off now….no point in hanging around any longer here.

Why don't they get off the carousel completely. Dougie can handle things for the near future at least.

Cooper is 5m compensation and Frank nothing Both good with youngsters -which is the reason we went to such lengths to get a Cat 1 academy - so...... Why complicate things? Where is the vision?

I feel like Dougie could be an interesting choice given the similarities to last time. A lot of people have written us off, the fans wants to see young players given a chance and we have players who have something to prove. It could also be interesting to see his signings, if they were his signings, given a chance. The question would be whether Dougie could do that again in the top flight. He couldn't reproduce what he did with us anywhere else but then maybe it's the Palace connection that worked last time. I don't think he would be anyone's first choice but is it really anymore of a risk than Lampard or Cooper?

From what I gather, the Nuno collapse was his fault rather than the club’s… I don’t think we can blame Parish here.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
