I have just read Jamesey's views on the game I think he really hates Benteke as in my view his work rate was more in the Man City game than Batshuayi in all the time he has played for us .

I listened to the game on radio london and they only praised him, good work by benteke, nice touch benteke, good defencive header from corner , a goal would have been great but shows he was doing his bit in other areas!

Win , but usually Direct them to opposition. Every game his back passing ends up With non-Palace player - in short, cut the losses and let go!!!

Benteke did well last time out but don’t expect goals just now.

End of the day he needs to play to get into some kind of form to be remotely useful to us or worth any money on the market.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

Our main problem seems to stem from committing players to attack when we do have the ball. We have no clear attacking shape.
Are our full backs attacking? They seem to get forward all the time and get caught out - particularly PVA. However, surely our wingers should be the ones providing attacking width. Yet they are not on the wings bombing forward when we have the ball. They are often tracking back and not backing up the attack. This would be addressed by making our back four a straight flat back four. Our full backs would attack less and our wingers would be in attack when we win the ball. In this way Benteke could be in the box ready for a cross.
The same problem arises in our center midfield. Surely one of our centre midfielders should have an attacking role? One of them should always be ready to get forward at every opportunity. Yet, who is this? None of our midfielders seem to provide this - it looks like Jimmy Mac is trying to do this but is also being asked to defend. Surely two CMs can provide adequate defensive cover - which ours seem to be pretty good at? I guess one solution is to use either Meyer or Kouyate as attacking midfielders. I reckon MacArthur is more of a holding midfielder and seems to tire in games these days.
Another possibility is putting Shlupp or Sako as attacking midfielder and Jimmy Mac and Milo as holding midfielders.
Playing like this we would have 6 outfield players essentially performing the defensive duties and 4 players really getting forward and staying forward. I believe this would help Benteke and our home form considerably.

I was at the game Benteke did alright but was frightfull when in possesion inour own half, often giving the ball to city in the form of a backpass that inevitably set them up for a dangerous attack.

I posted a while ago that through roys system benteke will never score what he is capable of.
The wingers dont put the ball in fast enough.
CB is on the edge of the last defender when we are going forward but the ball doesnt come in.
It could be delivered from the by line or 30 yards out.
This is his strength as he will find the ball.
Roys cautious approach has kicked CBs ability to bits.
Form is temporary and class is permanent.
When he goes and is played properly we will see that.

Anyone who has played at a decent level or has any kind of football brain can see Benteke is out of his depth. He might have been half decent once but for whatever reason he is done .We got turned over by Liverpool. There is no off the ball movement ,as we saw Sunday some straightforward touches go amiss. He can’t even close down the opposing defenders well .And some might say it was one of his best games recently. Well for 30 Mil great . Get rid in summer ,cut our losses.

He was totally isolated on Sunday and won much in the air but there was zero players within 20 yards of him. He did well in the air from Citeh corners etc. but he isn't going to score from there. I would like to see us set up deliberately around him in a few games this season to give him a chance to see what he may be able to do. However as others have stated I cannot see how he can work with any other attacking player in the team at the moment.

Correct, Klopp put one over on Parish who is clearly out of his depth and competence level in PL!

Haha. Always love it when people make statements like that. I've played at a decent level, am currently in the middle of coaching courses (so you'd hope my football brain's on point) and I disagree with you.

He's not out of his depth. If that 'depth' is PL level, he's shown both with Villa and us that he's absolutely in his depth.....the issue is our system doesn't suit him. Agree we need to either tweak things to get balls in the box quicker and play to his strengths, or he needs to move on.

That's quite different to being out of your depth though.

How can anyone still defend Our main striker after top the missing chances chart in PL?
3 goals in 2 Seasons, something like that for Tekkers. Not to compare, but when Messi netted two vs United yesteray - it was his 45th goal in 42 games this season!!!!
