Anybody can create an artificial boom by heavy borrowing. Trump is doing it and we are no stranger to it. What is different this time, it seems to me, is that the USA and UK for example will just go on printing money in this way regardless of the consequences. Maybe they have figured out that it is all short-term and who the hell cares. If we look at the post-WW2 USA loan to the UK so necessary to our re-building, when it was paid off by Gordon Brown all that was actually paid off 50 years later had become a forgotten pittance. The reaction of George Osborne to his vanity projects piling up huge sums of debt? 'probably will not even have to pay them'? Could he be right? Sounds ridiculous but who knows it all looks bonkers to me.

I have just caught Trump's rant at the UN. It's very funny I didn't know he did stand up. The audience enjoyed it and had a good laugh. He had no idea his diatribe would be received in that way and he took the mirth quite well......
